Criminally Underrated Charms

A list of Hollow Knight charms I find useful that many others fail to recognise.

Sharp Shadow

NOTCH COUNT: O O

DESCRIPTION: Contains a forbidden spell that transforms shadows into deadly weapons.
When using Shadow Dash, the bearer's body will sharpen and damage enemies.

WHERE TO FIND IT:
This charm is much better than it leads. It seems situational at first, but, considering how often you dash, this is a neccecity. It also combos with Dashmaster, in which case it deals 1.5*nail damage. This is a must-have for most boss battles and, in some cases, exploration.

Glowing Womb

NOTCH COUNT: O O

DESCRIPTION: Drains the SOUL of its bearer and uses it to birth hatchlings.
The hatchlings have no desire to eat or live, and will sacrifice themselves to protect their parent.

WHERE TO FIND IT:
Easily one of my favorite charms, right here. Why waste time killing enemies when these little guys can do it for you? But, their utility doesn't stop there. Is there a boss where you're just stuck dodging, without an opportunity to attack? Just have these guys attack, and you won't need to worry.

Defender's Crest

NOTCH COST: O

DESCRIPTION: Unique charm bestowed by the King of Hallownest to his most loyal knight. Scratched and dirty, but still cared for.
Causes the bearer to emit a heroic odour.

WHERE TO FIND IT:
It's incredibly low cost, high utility, and insane combo potential make it a great charm. However, I don't see many people using it outside gimmicks and getting discounts from Leg Eater. It's a shame...

Soul Eater (reccomended by Legosebe)

NOTCH COST: O O O O

DESCRIPTION: Forgotten shaman artifact, used to draw SOUL from still-living creatures.
Greatly increases the amount of SOUL gained when striking an enemy with the nail.

WHERE TO FIND IT:

An essential tool for every magic build. This item is commonly passed up in exchange for Soul Catcher, for it does the same thing and costs less. But Soul Eater is far more effective than its cheaper brother. Soul Catcher regains only ~27% more soul. But, Soul Eater is nearly triple that, clocking in at ~72% more soul. This is much more valuable than its notch cost puts on.

Soul eater is good, but spell twister + soul catcher is actually more efficient for the same notch cost. It's roughly the same hits for 3 spells (the difference is about 1/10 hits) but spell twister + soul catcher lets you fire off 4 spells at the same time.
Also, definitely put dream wielder on here, for one notch cost you can get a lot of soul in some situations.

For everyone saying glowing womb is bad:
it's for boss fights, not exploring and you pair it with the weaverlings + grubsong so the weaverlings refill your soul and make more suicide bombers. add defenders crest, sprintmaster, and grimmchild for a full setup (dashmaster makes the weaverlings move faster to keep up with faster bosses).

There are a bunch of bosses you can beat super easy (though a little slow) with this setup. the false knight dreamer and broken vessel/kin and it's dreamer come to mind. just hold crystal dash at the top of the arena wall. basically any boss without a ranged attack. oh, and defender crest is required for this with the boss in ancient basin (broken kin/vessel). Sorry, don't know the proper names for all of them.

dream wielder and nailmasters glory are also quite underated,
nailmasters glory makes slow bosses / enemies quite easy to fight also 1 notch (example:joni's blessing, breakable/unbreakable strength with nailmasters glory,just charge up cyclone slash as it deals the nail damage multiple times,compared to great slash and the dash slash witch only do a higher damaging blow once)dream wielder gives more soul for 1 notch and makes dream shield bigger pretty good since it makes dreamshield even better and helps for 1 notch!

...Well, a Defender's Crest + Flukenest combo sounds better than usual Flukenest... If it doesn't lower the fluke damage.
