- The DLC idea is a good one its hard to argue with free DLC. In my very humble opinion the DLC is ok at best and does not really enhance the experience for new players. Now in ME2 on the story is vastly different and I do cover DLC in detail starting there. Until then for those who want a quick take I suggest saving your time and instead invest in a 2nd character & play through to also carry through the series.
- Thank you for the honest feedback from a new RPG player! I never looked at the guide this way and you raise a great point. I went ahead and updated the guide description to help clarify.
Many people criticized the witcher 3 for being too obnoxious with explanations, but you need to understand that there are people out there that wasn't born playing games and what's obvious for you, it's not for us, Witcher 3 stopped me in the menus every time something new appeared with an explanation that'll stay on screen until I acknowledge it, which is good so I can take my time to read and Google the bits I don't get.
And although I'm ashamed to admit it, I only got this far BECAUSE I already played witcher 3, a few years ago I tried ME, and I quit after 2 hours because I couldn't do anything or get anywhere, so please consider adding some more very basic explanations, think of them as 'for grandma's I'm sure they'll fit me perfectly.
" 'How to get started guide' in the Mass Effect universe, if you're already an experienced RPG gamer"
Because I came here looking for some explanations for noobs (that was my actual search in Google, mass effect for noobs) and I'm leaving with more questions than I came here with, and no answers whatsoever.
Pease don't take me the wrong way, this is not against you. I've only started playing 'RPG' games last year with the witcher series, and that was a terrible experience at first as well, so many things thrown at you with no explanation or tutorial! Same with ME, I only got the bare basics after a few very frustrating and boring hours of walking (ever so slowly) around without being able to find anything, getting killed more times that I'd like to admit, and pausing every 5-10 minutos to Google stuff.

It's just something that new players (like myself) may not initially be aware of.
Thanks for the guide btw!
As a new player I found this priceless and well written guide. I read it "cover to cover" as far as guides go this was the most interesting, informative and the least dry guide I've ever read.
Apologies for any misunderstanding on my part. To be candid I did remove some (not all) of your comments as they deviated significantly from the purpose of this guide IMHO. You and anyone is welcome to post as long as the focus remains on new players and new information, not for debate.
You appear to be someone who's of keen interest in ME1, why not start your own guide? Honestly I do not have the time to verify your new information and your suggestions would be ripe to be fully explored. Who knows I may try them myself!
Lastly my sincere thanks for sharing your knowledge. It's amazing to think that there are even more ways to play this classic title. Kudos for that.
