An introductory
Greetings Товарищ! Are you unhappy with the fact that no matter what you do, you die a horribly violent death, causing your teammates to slander each other, teamkill and then leave the game? Well I can't help you there, but where I can help you is to improve your Tachanka game! this guide will help you out in learning some important basics step by step, from the bottom of his boots to the weird thing on the top of his helmet!

We will take a look at some core tips, weapons, turret placements for every map (and the reasoning behind them), flaws to keep in mind and even a tip on how to beat god himself (because some players are just THAT bad). It should be noted that this guide probably won't propel you to the e-sports, but if I could manage to (almost) get to platinum with this playstyle, then so can you!
How I learned to stop worrying and LOAD THE LMG: Why you should pick Tachanka
Tachanka is quite the situational pick, on some maps you stand able to kill an entire team while picking for boogers, and on others you're like a Japanese person in China: Your chances of survival drastically go down the longer you stay in one place. Tachanka also suffers a bigger resistance at higher skill tiers than other operators as people get far more capable of taking down a fat guy in a vibrant green suit.

HOWEVER, Tachanka carries with him two very distinct playstyles with his turret, one abusing his surrounding cover as much as possible and the other revolves around being a dickish ♥♥♥♥ and aiming straight at the spawn or putting a turret in interesting ambush points. His turret (which we will cover more intricately in a later subject) has buttloads of damage, penetration, a good rate of fire (compared to the damage it puts out at least) and a somewhat mediocre recoil. His weapons, like the semi automatic shotgun is a MONSTER and also carries some really nice pistols that pack a punch too, even in long range.

Know how to place your turrets, keep your head around some important core values when playing and know how to use your other weapons when necessary and you're bound to kill a whole ton of people... Provided they don't shoot you through the wall first.
The ten eleven commandments of Tachanka: How to turret and important tips
If you're going to be playing Tachanka (God bless your brave soul), there are some CRUCIAL things you would do well to remember:

1. Never, EVER deploy your turret during prep/drone phase. If your enemy knows where you are from the start you might as well be dead. This is such an important tip as the likelihood of enemy Ash mains bum-rushing straight into your turret's line of fire dramatically increases. Same goes for any other would-be-MLG-FAZE-CLAN-PRO's.

2. ALWAYS pack a shield with you. As much as I would like it, barbed wire cannot melt lead bullets. Also yes, I actually see some people taking Tachankas with barbed wire so this is necessary to mention... There ARE situations where taking BW as an early warning system would be more useful, but trust me, those situations are few and far between. I will cover that in the turret placements subject though.

3. A kill is more important than a kill with a turret. Sometimes it is just best for you to leave your turret to make that glorious flank with your BOOMSTICK and get a lovely triple kill. Be opportunistic. Sacriligeous to even suggest something like that, but hard times call for hard measures. The shotgun is cool too though, trust me.

4. If you are deploying your turret to overlook a door, put the shield as close to yourself and DEFINITELY do not put the shield right in the door. This seems to be a habit of players like Frost, but what may actually seem like a decent idea is secretly a horrible health hazard due to the shield not being able to completely cover the door from one side to the other, leaving tiny openings for the enemy to easily pick you off while you can barely even aim that spot.

5. Be afraid of windows. Be VERY afraid.

6.

At least if you reinforce the wall and they Thermite or Hibana charge you, you will have time to react with your boomstick, so ALWAYS reinforce the wall behind you. If you're mobile and you have no reinforcements for your walls, I hear praying is a popular method of hoping not to get blown in the back. Mute/Bandit is your best friend in this case, ask him if he can put a jammer/electric-jigaloo behind you.

7. If the door/window/wall that you are covering is located on one side of the room, deploy as far away from it as you can. This comes from a weird situation where you and your mirror is targetable while the enemy is not. This takes precedent over finding natural cover, as there's not much point to cover if it can't protect you properly. This will be addressed more in the flaws subject.

8. While no.7 takes precedent over no.8 if you can, abuse cover as much as possible. Example of this would be the bars in the French and Japanese map (don't want to name them here so they don't mess up the search bar for turret placement article, you know which ones I'm talking about), the kitchen in dostevsky, neatly arranged furniture, basically anything that can cover your legs as it frees your shield up to protect what few other vulnerable spots you might still have or even allow you to switch to barbed wire to use as an early warning system.

9. If enemy is over 10 meters away from you, three-round burst fire. If the enemy is 10 meters or closer, LET 'ER RIP BOIIII! If you are not an expert in recoil or your enemy is really long range, single snipe shots are also completely fine because the bullets pretty much kill in 2-3 shots

10. For gods sake don't reload after using up just one bullet. Wait until you fall really low or are ABSOLUTELY sure there is no danger, as your chances of being killed during a reload or having your glass damaged is much higher than you would think.

11. Every now and then you might get a phonecall from your momDokkaebi, and smart players can actually abuse this strategy to their own advantage to bait the enemy into the turret. I would advise eventually turning the phone off as the enemy's likely to get smart at some point at least.
Shotgunocalypse now: a weapons review
It is time to look at the other weapons Tachanka is packing with him (blasphemous, I know). I'm not going to be talking about weapon stats as it's completely pointless because I have pictures for it so if you're a stats guy, just glaze over the pictures and that's it. Rather I will talk about how I personally feel about his weapons.

First up, the lovely 9x19VSN:

The name rolls right off the tongue, I know. See if you can say it 10 times super fast.

This is your average joe's SMG. It's got your average 30-bullet clip, a good amount of damaged balanced by an okay rate of fire. The only thing that actually does stick out here is the low amount of recoil this thing produces.

If I ever play with this SMG (which I rarely do), I like to stick a silencer on it, a vertical grip and compensator to make the recoil even smaller when you go crazy. Muzzle break instead of compensator for you crazy 3-burst tryhards out there. Silencer works too though. Stealthy Tachanka is something people REALLY don't expect. I like to stick a laser pointer on it but NEW PLAYERS BEWARE because enemies can actually see the end part of it. Your choice of sights, I just like dots because it's minimalistic.

The gun is not bad, in fact I'd say it's pretty good, but it's one of those situations where both of your choices are good but one is WAY better than the other.

And THIS one is the other:

I'll be a jumping jesus on a pogostick if this gun is not good

The short and simple answer as to why I think this shotgun is good is because it's semi-auto. It's as simple as that. The shotgun has crazy amounts of damage compared to other shotguns, but the fact that it can just dump so many buckshots in such a short time (even faster than other semi-autos) makes this gun the literal nuke of Rainbow Six Siege (now we have two with the SK update and in two different playstyles too). Recoil is a bit crazy as is to be expected, but it's easily manageable with just a little practice. I've had countless situations where I would be forced to jump off my turret, and rotate to the side, quickly jump out and spray my load all over the enemy team, easily killing upwards of 3 enemies. This, and the South Korean shotgun are the only ones I'd use in actual combat (all the other ones are too risky compared to a good old rifle in my opinion)

Now modifications: I hear alot of people like to stick a silencer on it for some reason. Other than the cool camera snap sound it makes while shooting, I don't personally think that it's honestly worth lowering damage so I keep the barrel slot empty actually. I go for the laser sight because of obvious hip fire improvements (though again, beware of laser pointer being visible), and vertical grip to make that recoil much less bothersome and actually manageable. Your choice of sights again, but honestly I don't put anything on the thing because I don't honestly even zoom with the weapon, I go all out on hipfire, and if I ever get into a situation that I would zoom with my shotgun, I just take out my pistol.

Speaking of which:

bleh

My logic with pistols is basically that it should pile up as much damage or have the smallest possible recoil, I honestly use them sort of like a sniper rifle, taking down people from long distance. Preferably by headshot.

GSH: "Who are you?"
PMM: "I am you, but stronger"

There's really not much to explain here, the pistol is pretty damn good, smaller capacity, but it's got extra kick to it. This time I actually do stick a silencer because of the fact I'm fighting long range, takes that extra little while for them to figure out if you haven't headshotted them yet.
50 shades of turret placements: Where to put 'em and why
CTRL + F TO QUICKLY GO TO THE MAP YOU WANT

Just a little heads up, You may notice that there's 0 spawnpeeking pictures on here, that's mostly because I have no research done into those, but I will update the maps with such spots once I confirm some good vantage points to abuse

Green arrows: Points you will cover with your turret
Red arrows: Blind spots and dangers you have to be aware of
Blue squares: Shape of the wall destruction

HOUSE
So this is a fairly simple one, deploy behind the planks, you get to cover the window on the left and a bit of the passageway to the right. This is a bit of a risky spot as there's lots of spots you could be shot from and the turret glass is abusable from the passageway, but it's okay to do if the objective is located in this room and you've at least reinforced it properly. Careful of the other window in the room (try shooting the wall to get to the person). Use the shield in front of the planks to provide extra cover from the windows, put it right of you so you can cover yourself from that spot as well, or bring barbed wire so you can use it as a early warning.

You get to cover many points from this spot, take caution of the right side as the glass is abusable (they can shoot it without you being able to shoot them back). you can break the wall in front of you if you want, I just prefer not to as it leaves me with too much to cover. There's also a trap door a bit to the left which you can use as an escape plan if things get too rough, but it is a little bit out of the way unlike other spots so only run there if they can't shoot you from that angle. Pack a shield so you can deploy it a bit left of the furniture located in front of you so you can cover your other bodyparts and that it may get you more safely to the trap door. or bring BW and put it in the room right of you so you can prepare.

This is a great spot, but a bit of a risk. You cover a ton of spots from here, but you should be aware of 3 dangers here: don't break the wall all the way to the left as there's a glass window from which they could shoot you if they know (reinforcing the wall helps but still exercise care), extra careful players from the stairs could potentially abuse your glass and there's always the risk of the enemy destroying the window on the left (barricading the door next to you might help to at least not let them know you're right there). A shield in front or to the right of you works best.

Not much to add here, shield on your right, beware abusable glass on red arrow spots and if your enemy is breaching through the garage, single shots as recoil is difficult to control, especially at that range.

CHALET

Reinforce the wall right of you but blow a hole where shown so you can cover the stairs. single shots for shooting outside the garage. Being in the wine cellar drastically decreases your chances being fuzed but still exercise caution and have a teammate watch the door behind you. Shield in front, but don't blow the entire wall in front of you simply for the fact that they will not know that you have a shield in front and will probably waste shots trying to get you through the wall. People are stupid like that.

This is the same spot as 1 but just turn over if you expect the enemy will come from behind you instead. blow the wall if you want for a bigger viewpoint, and as in picture no.1 be careful of fuze and getting attacked from behind.

Now this is a wonderful spot for Tachanka, reinforce all the walls in the room, put a shield to your left so the enemy can't shoot you through the small drone hole. The only possible danger is reinforced walls being breached or the glass being abusable on your right, but even then if that happens, you have a trap door right below you that you can use to escape. be aware that if you put the turret or the shield on the trap door and you blow it up you will lose those gadgets.

Alot of people are suggesting this, I personally don't like it but I will cover it anyway. This spot gets suggested alot because of the fact that many enemies take a peek through the window looking for easy targets. Angle your turret a bit to the left or the right so you can cover the door to your left or right, but take care of getting attacked from the opposite side and be absolutely aware of the trap door right above you as it has the tendency to get breached and you'll be right in the crosshairs.

Famous Carthaginian general Hannibal Chanka once said "If I can't find a way, I'll make one" before being promptly teamkilled. blow up the wall in such a way that you cover both stairs and the door and window to your right. Angle your turret a little to the left or the right so you can cover one more spot, but be careful as you will be exposing yourself quite a bit. The glass from the bottom stairs might be a bit abusable as well.

Not much to add here, just be careful of people coming from the stairs.

Angle the turret a bit to the left so you can cover the stairs as well. Be aware that your right side will be completely exposed, but reinforcing the doors to your right could help you disguise yourself on that spot. Glass is abusable from the stairs and pay care to the window on the left as enemies coming from that side could be a bit of trouble.

CONSULATE
This is a great starting point, as a Tachanka's more dangerous the farther he is and the less spots he can be attacked from, and there's not many here. Take care of the trap doors on the left and right side, the grill windows are a bit difficult to shoot through (but so it is for the enemy), but you are in trouble if anyone gets to the door on the left. Barricade just in case, you never know.

This way you can keep a much better cover of anyone trying to enter through the trapdoor or the small coridoor, but you can't cover the main entrance. Put the shield in front of the wall, or right behind you to cover the drone hole so they can't shoot your feet. The glass on the right might be abusable, but I haven't had it happen to me yet.

Bigger focus on the coridoor. You can also keep watch on the trap door on your right, but be careful of anyone entering through the main room and if the trapdoor above you breaks, run like hell.

Watch your back, and if you put a shield in front, you will find it harder to shoot people at the garage doors. Pretty much it. I think the ceiling is fuzable but pretty much nobody ever does it and I haven't tested it.

Same covering place, different spot. Beware left side as the glass is potentially abusable.

I've actually ran out of characters, reeeee, continuing in the next page...
50 shades of turret placements part 2:
I apparently ran out of characters on first part so I had to continue here.

I love this spot. It's in your face as soon as it opens and you are almost completely covered up from any side. If things get too rough you even have a trap door right beneath you to escape if things get too crazy. The only spot you should be really careful of is directly behind you. Barricade and ask someone to cover your back and you should be fine.

A risky spot but it tends to work. Should be without mention that you should be careful of windows the most. I'd usually recommend going to the corner on the left but turret placement is too finicky there and your glass is very abusable there.

One thing you should note here is that your legs/stomach might not actually be protected here 100% due to small openings all over the furniture placement. On the flipside you cover a lot of vital spots.

It's a bit difficult to properly set up here, but you cover pretty much all the windows here. Beware right side as there's a door they can peek you from and if memory serves me right the floor is destructible.

End notes
This guide is currently under construction and will be updated as such. This is also my first guide ever, but don't let that stop you from tearing me a new one in the comments and calling me a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and not to forget ♥♥. I will gladly respond to any questions, whether it be about Tachanka or my personal sex life or something completely else. (hit me up ladies, I'm a Tachanka main). If this gets popular at all and alot of people start demanding it, I might make guides for other operators as well.

I don't know how successful it will be for you, but to the left of the trapdoor in Kitchen on Chalet works pretty well for me. You have access to watching the living room or whatever the callout is and you can pretty decently watch everything else, although the cases in the Trophy Room can be a nuisance. At least you can dome them if you're good enough and they peek, typically doesn't work out for me though.

Hey just wanted to give you some feedback on the Consulate Security Room Chanka placement. I tend to put the turrent further back in the room and used both reinforcements on the wall to your right. That way you can put the shield inside the room and even defend the room to your left. Barracading the enterance to security and the hallway next to it also helps you be ready if someone comes from east. This adjustment also allows you to much easily shoot people coming from garage doors.

I nearly got vote kicked for playing Tachanka. Then I killed 4/5 of the enemies without my turret.... Because Valk blew it up. I promptly shot her in the face and nearly aced the enemies. Jaeger got the last guy. I was a little upset as I nearly got him too but i didnt want to miss. So thank you Jaeger #19934 for that assisted Ace
