Jumping & Additional height
All legends have 2 jumps and 1 recovery attack unless they're jumping off a platform which makes it 3 jumps instead of 2. In addition you have the ability to dodge upwards in order to get some more height.
Jumping penalty / Wall hugging prevention system
In order to prevent wall hugging which is staying on the side of the map for too long BMG implemented a system that prevents you from jumping if you touch the wall too many times in a row without landing on a platform. Once you touch the wall 8 times in a row an exclamation mark will appear and your jumps will be shorter. Then if you touch the wall 12 times in a row two exclamation marks will appear and your jumps will get even shorter until you touch the wall 15 times in a row and you'll lose the ability to jump and slide off to your death (3 exclamation marks).

Keep in mind that if you're getting hit by an attack or a weapon throw it resets your wall touch count.
Fast fall
It's possible to fall downwards faster while you're in mid air. This can be done by pressing the down button.
Dodging & Dashing
Dodging and dashing are part of the core game mechanics when it comes to efficent movement and even some other game tech.

Dashing can only be performed on the ground by pressing the dodge button together with a forward or backwards input. Dashing has no invulnerability frames and is mainly used for positioning.

In addition it's possible to dash jump by pressing the dodge button together with a forward or backwards input then pressing the jump button which will result in a short jump in the direction you're dashing. This can be used as a way to avoid signatures that hit stacked or as a way to quickly surprise your opponent with an aerial attack.

Dodging gives you invulnerability frames and can be performed both mid air and on the ground. However on the ground you're only able to spot dodge and it has 1.5 seconds of cooldown and mid air you're able to spot dodge as well as dodging in every direction but it has 3(.5?) seconds of cooldown. Dodging is mainly used with the right timing to avoid getting hit by attacks.

Dash spot dodge cancel allows you to keep your momentum on the ground while dodging. It can be performed by dashing and quickly tapping the dodge button.

In addition to normal dodge there's a chase dodge. This dodge can be performed by dodging towards your opponent after landing a successful hit. It can be performed twice on the ground and once in mid air. The unique properties of this dodge are that it's faster than a normal dodge and can also be canceled into attacks.
Reversed chase dodge
It's possible to do an even faster version of a chase dodge by facing the other way for a brief moment before you chase dodge. It works both mid air and on the ground and can be done by hitting an attack, facing the other way and quickly use a chase dodge.
Gravity cancel
Gravity cancel allows you to do ground attacks in mid air at the cost of your dodge. Gravity cancel is performed by spot dodging in mid air and quickly doing an attack input of a signature or a light attack.
Xpivot
A pivot is a chasedodge into a reverse attack, doing this maintains the momentum in the initial direction of travel, where an X-Pivot is a chasedodge into a diagonally input attack. Xpivot reverses your momentum.

An Xpivot can be performed after landing an attack (So you get a chase dodge) then you need to dodge diagonally, hold down your button that's set to aim up and reverse your attack by pressing the other direction with light attack.
Slide charging
Slide charge means that you're casting a signature attack while having momentum. Slide charging can be performed by either dashing or chase dodging before you start charging up a signature attack.
Backwards dash attacks
Some attacks that are being used during your backwards dash will reverse your momentum and send you forward. (For example: Unarmed Nlight).
Weapon throws
(No need for video since the striked part of this section doesn't work anymore)

Weapon throws can be used to cancel out your opponent's signature attacks as well as a tool to engage because it gives you two chase dodges (Assuming you're on the ground). However if you use a mid air throw you'll only get a chase dodge if you're touching the ground. (Doesn't work as of season 8)
Rocket lance wall cancel
Rocket lance's Sair and Dair attacks can be canceled into a shorter version of them if you're close to a wall. This cancel can be done by doing Sair or Dair the other way as soon as you're touching a wall.
Axe double ground pound
By doing your ground pound at the right height before your touch the ground you'll be able to hit your opponent twice with your ground pound. The aerial ground pound version will cancel into the ground pound version you do when touching the ground.
Platform edge aerial attacks & dash
It's possible to use aerial attacks on the ground by running towards the end of a platform and reversing an attack. However this requires good timing and might work better with some weapons more than others.

You can do faster dashes when you're dashing off a platform. This can be done the same way as doing aerial attacks but you have to time your dash instead of timing your attack.
Map's terrain affect on signature attacks
(Air, Platform, Wall)
Val's side signature with sword is the best example for this because she's the first legend who fully utilizes this feature with one of her signatures.
Basically the same signature attack will do different enders depending on whether it hits a wall, a platform or no platform of any kind (Hitting the air sort of).

There are also some other legends who can do that but their signature attacks only change when they don't hit a platform.

The Azoth & Nix wiggle
Azoth can continue to move forward while charging his bow dsig because he is in a floating status which means you can aim your "falling" angle same way you could have if you used any other slide charged signature off the edge of a platform. The Azoth wiggle can be done by doing a chase dodge & dsig while holding down the forward button with bow.

Nix can continue to move forward while charging her scythe ssig because she is in a floating status which means you can aim your "falling" angle same way you could have if you used any other slide charged signature off the edge of a platform. The Nix wiggle can be done by doing a chase dodge & ssig while holding down the forward button with Scythe.

Glad I found this as a new player! Just being aware that these mechanics exist will help to identify the options available to try to learn each of them individually. Thanks! :steamhappy:

Nice detailed explanation, though it would be hard to remember all of them for a beginner.

You can add val`s Ssig on the map`s terrain affect on sig attacks.
