What is Zeus?
Zeus is an Arma 3 Gamemode, but since you're reading this guide, I assume you know that. In reality, Zeus is one of the most fun gamemodes, along with one of the most easy to stream to a mass group of people.

(A Group of BLUFOR running away from hostiles)

Zeus is about the enjoyment of two groups of people, The Zeus(es) and The Playerbase, but it's mostly about how the Playerbase feels. The Zeus's job is too make the Playerbase happy with the missions, but not to make it too easy for them. I'll explain more of this in a future section
How To Zeus
When starting Zeus, you should see two things. The Edit Bar (Left) and the Create Bar (Right).
The Edit Bar is where you can find stuff you've already placed down, along with dead bodies. The Create Bar is where you can create objects. There's 5 Main Sections of the Create Bar,
  • Units
  • Groups
  • Modules
  • Markers
  • Recent
All of these do different things, but the basic rundown is, Units and Groups are spawning objects (ie. Units, Buildings, Cars) and Markers are for stuff on the Map.

How to spawn units
Under Units, there will be Four Groups, BLUFOR, OPFOR, and Independent, along with Civilians. Under those, there's other groups, but I won't go into those. BLUFOR is NATO, and NATO allied groups. OPFOR is CSAT, and their Pacific Version. Independent is AAF and Syndikat.

How to spawn buildings
Under Units, they'll be one more group, EMPTY. In here is all manner of stuff, buildings, empty cars, weapons, but we'll focus on Buildings. What you want to do is click Structures, there will be 3 of them, and pick from the list where you want to get the structure from. If you want buildings that are in Kavala, you go to Structures (Altis), City, and then find the building.
Campaigns
What is a Campaign

A campaign is a series of missions, usely more than two, that fits in to a bigger narative in the Zeus's head lore. A basic example is this:

  • Head to Kavala, and clear it off hostiles .
  • Cleared Kavala, head to base.
  • Base get's attacked, fly to Kore.
  • Clear Kore, set up base there.

Let's break this down even more. So first, they head to Kavala from their base, let's say the Airfield, and they clear it. Next they're told to RTB, but the base get's attacked, so they have to fly somewhere else. Command (Zeus) tells them that Kore is a nice location for a new base, but that there is CSAT there, and they'll need to clear it, which they do. The Zeus sets up their base, and can continue on the campaign from there.
Modules
What are they, and what can they do?

Modules are things that can helps enhance Zeus Missions, if used correctly. I'll go over in section in their own to help you understand what they can do.

Animals
In here are just animals, such as goats, butterflies, and seagulls. These spawn a group of them, and not just one, so be be careful not to spam it.

Audio
This is where all the audio you can play will be found. This includes music, sounds over the radio, and sounds on the actual ground, such as alarms.

Chem Lights
Pretty self explantory, these are just normal chemlight that can be used for anything.

Effects
These can spawn IR Grenades and Tracers, stuff that can enhance the mission if there's not enough shooting yet.

Enviroment
In this is where you find the modules to change the weather, time, how fast the day goes, and how everything looks. You can also change the fog, so that's good too.

Fire Support
In here is where you can find the stuff that will blow your playerbase to pieces Mortars and the Howitzer shells. Note: These aren't the actual pieces of artillery, this is only to shoot at the players.

Flares
These comes in 4 colors, and they can help illumanite the ground at night.

Objectives
These are what can tell your soldiers to do. You can use the preset ones, or create your own in Custom Objective.

Respawn
In here are all the options for respawn, including Infantry and Vehicles. You can also change what loadout the players can spawn with in here.

Scenario Flow
These ones help keep the scenario interesting, with such things and countdowns or respawn tickets. This is also where you can change the scenario name.

Smoke shells
This just contains your standard smoke shells. Can be used to mark a LZ.

Training
In here are the options to punish and help players. Don't use bootcamp stage, as it'll mess everything up.

Zeus
The best of the modules! In here you can find Arsenal, with can help change the loadout of an AI soldier, (SORRY, it can't create Arsenals). You can also remote control AI, but don't overuse it. The last one is Zeus Lightning Bolt, which you can zap players with too kill them.
Squad Making
Squads in Zeus have been getting rapidly popular in the last few weeks, and for good reason. Squads can make a subpar mission into a good one, and can increase fun for the players.

The main points of having squads is
  • Preventing Trolling
  • Making a zeus's life easier
  • Making sure that the playerbase doesn't just rush into the mission with no plan
  • etc.

How to make Squads
Squads are easy to make, but hard to make well.

A neccesary tool for squad making is a authority figure. This is usually an admin, but can just be a random player who happens to be charasmatic. This is to insure that the players actually respect the squads instead of just wandering off after they are made.

Another tool neccesary for the construction of squads are 2-3 squad leaders. These will help keep the squads inline, and actually provide something resembling an actual command structure.

@ʷ ᶦ ᶰ ᵈ ʳ ʸ ᶰ I liked the admin debug console however most of the admins I played with on public zeus abused it. Either activating god mode or some cheating factor that changed how the game went, and it was kinda boring to be honest. Bothered me to the depths of hell though when I was zeusing. Sure there were some cool admins that didn't do that but ruining the mission zeus made and also accounting for the amount of time I took to make that mission is not cool, along with all those side missions inorder to set up that specific one.

But there were still some benefits to it that I liked - as you've probably experienced so I won't point those out.

@ʷ ᶦ ᶰ ᵈ ʳ ʸ ᶰ, if you really think that Zeus is useless without the admin debug console, then I really feel sad for ya. Public Zeus managed to go through 3-4 years without the debug console, so what's the problem with doing so now?

Zeus died when they removed the admin debug console

Achilles mod helps alot with adding new functions, ability to create arsenals, add flags to units, Vehicle Arsenal(Garage, originally wasn't in vanilla) etc. You should mention the mod as it helps make the Zeus abilities easier and adds more creativity of the operation.
