Sonic Forces Mods and How To Use Them

Simple guide on how to install mods for Sonic Forces. Also includes a list of mods for you to try out!

---- Getting the tools ----

To use mods, you need a mod installer/manager. I recommend getting HedgeModManager, since that's the most feature rich mod utility out there as of now. If that doesn't work (an update broke it, etc.), you can get the Sonic Forces Mod Installer, as that should work with every version of the game.
But only use that one as an alternative and not as the main tool.

After getting your mod utility, jump to the section of this guide that's apropriate to you!

After downloading HedgeModManager, you'll want to extract the files first. (Can be extracted anywhere)

1 - Open the executable that it came with (HedgeModManager.exe). You'll
be greeted by a confirmation box. Click "OK". This window will then appear:

You'll want to select Sonic Forces, since that's the game we're installing mods for. So, double
click Sonic Forces, press "Yes", and it will automatically install itself onto Sonic Forces' game files.
(If there's an update available, do it, since it will most likely fix some compatibility problems)

2 - If it didn't open automatically, navigate to your Sonic Forces executable directory (SonicForces/build/main/projects/exec/) and open HedgeModManager.exe there. You'll then be asked to install the code loader. Press "Yes", as that will activate mod loading.
(If a problem occurs, you might want to close the manager and open it again by opening it from the game's executable folder.)

Now you'll be presented with this:


Now Lets install some mods!
3 - There is multiple methods to install mods, All methods are shown below, We recommend using method 3.c or 3.d as they are the easiest way to install mods

3 a) - You can simply paste the mods you want in the mods folder, located in the same place as HedgeModManager. Then press "Refresh Mods List" and you're good to go!

3 b) - There's also an automated way of doing it: over here, you'll want to press the + sign, located at the bottom of the manager.
This window will appear:


3.1 b) - Now select "Install it from a folder" and press OK. Now you need to select the mod's folder that you previously extracted. Go to it's folder, then press Save at the bottom of the window. The mod should be installed.

3 c) - There is also another automated way of installing mods from a folder/zip/rar/7z: You can just simply drag the mod you want to install into the modlist on the Manager and the Manager will do all the work needed to install the mod for mod loading. (This Method Requires 7-Zip or WinRar to be installed except for folders installation)

3 d) - There is also another way of downloading and installing mods from GameBanana, If you see a mod on GameBanana that you will like to play, You can Click the "HedgeModManager" button below, which will open HedgeModManager with a window showing its info, Just Click "Start Update" and It should start Downloading and installing the mod, And when its done, You should see the mod on the list next time you run HMM.

4 - Now you just need to tick the mod in the Manager, press Save and Play, and enjoy!

NOTE: If the game crashes, then it means HedgeModManager isn't compatible with the current version of the game. Uninstall the code loader by opening HedgeModManager and going into the Codes tab, and try using Sonic Forces Mod Installer.

In contrast with HedgeModManager, Forces Mod Installer installs mods into the game, and doesn't load them. This means that you'll need to uninstall your mods every time you want to get rid of them.

In any case...

1 - Download the Installer and extract it to the Sonic Forces game folder (SonicForces). You should have something like this now:

2 - Put your mod folders inside the "Mods" folder. After that, open "Sonic Forces Mod Installer.bat".

3 - Your mods should show up on the CMD window. Now you need to type the mod's name onto the window, like this:

4 - Press ENTER, confirm the installation by typing "Y" and pressing ENTER again, and wait.
When the installation finishes, you just need to press ENTER and open the game to play with the mod!

NOTE: To install more mods, re-open the mod installer and repeat the process.
To uninstall mods, type "delete" on the window. To check what mods are currently installed, type "check" on the window.

NOTE: Forces Mod Installer requires PackCpk.exe and CpkMaker.dll to work. If not prompted by the program, you can get PackCpk and CpkMaker from this archive: Download[github.com]
Then extract PackCpk.exe and CpkMaker.dll into the SonicForces folder and try again

Also, before switching mod utilities, make sure to uninstall your mods in the Forces Mod Installer!!!!

Tried Mod Installer but when i press enter it automatically quits :/

Try to reinstall the code loader by going to the options tab, and click Install/Uninstall to uninstall it, and again to install it. If that doesn't work, redownload the manager and reinstall it (alongside the code loader).

If that still doesn't solve it, then try using Forces Mod Installer.

Cahloosh you can edit the actstgmission.lua with Notepad++
