Xbox contoller fix for Assassin's Creed II

The purpose of this guide is to help out those of us who would like to use a controller for Assassin's Creed II but think that the defualt configuartion is unbearable. Also because I have seen this issue show up many times on the discussions.

Download the file here[www.dropbox.com] and extract it using a program like 7-zip or Win-rar

Take both files, x360ce.ini and xinput1_3.dll, and copy them to the Assasin's Creed II folder which is located in your steam folder, in my case at
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Assasin's Creed II

When you start up the game, the controls should be set to a more intuitive layout similar to many of today's other games
Edit: Once installed, you still need to make sure that your controls are set to the gamepad in the in-game settings.

now that's a lot better. then turning with l2 and r2..that was just stupid. if i didn't love ac2 i would have gotten my money back. thank you for this post mate.your a real one

the game doesn't even give me the option to use the controller, it just says controller not compatible

I have the files installed but the character just seems to randomly jump from walls instead of climbing making the race with his brother difficult. Any suggestions?

Everything is working except for the D-Pad controls. Do you know why that may be?
