Xbox contoller fix for Assassin's Creed II

The purpose of this guide is to help out those of us who would like to use a controller for Assassin's Creed II but think that the defualt configuartion is unbearable. Also because I have seen this issue show up many times on the discussions.

Download the file here[www.dropbox.com] and extract it using a program like 7-zip or Win-rar

Take both files, x360ce.ini and xinput1_3.dll, and copy them to the Assasin's Creed II folder which is located in your steam folder, in my case at
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Assasin's Creed II

When you start up the game, the controls should be set to a more intuitive layout similar to many of today's other games
Edit: Once installed, you still need to make sure that your controls are set to the gamepad in the in-game settings.

Anyone still having issues, what worked for me is i disabled the steam input. If I have it on, after pasting the files into the folder it doesn't work. After disabling steam input it works now.

Just so simple! Well at least it was for me! Drag/drop forget about it!
If you're not sure, start playing without it... then with it, I didn't have to think about which button to press! perfect mapping! Cheers take my points!

If you have trouble getting it to work, try this:

1. Put xinput1_3.dll in the target folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Assassin's Creed 2) (might be a different folder for you, but this is the standard location).

KEEP x360ce.ini OUT OF THIS FOLDER (put it in a seperate folder on your desktop or somewhere else, just not in the target folder.

2. Start the game, go to settings, then controls. Make sure you have the gamepad selected as input device. You will have weird controls but this doesn't matter.

3. Close your game.

4. Now put x360ce.ini in the target folder.

5. Start your game again and head into a save game.

If you did everything above, it should work. If you go to settings and then controls, you should see buttons assigned like LB and RT.

In-game you will still get the colored button prompts you'd get if you were playing on mouse and keyboard, so you'll have to memorize what's what.

i tried it but still did not work for me, i have a Logitech F710 and the buttons still not configured. please if anyone have any solutions i really want to play this game
