[Discontinued] True Blue Emergency Vehicle Beacons

Description
This mod is no longer useful, and will not work with game versions 1.32 or newer. As of 1.32, SCS have improved the blue light colour in the same way that this mod does. If anything, this mod is now inferior to the vanilla game. I apologize for not realizing this much earlier. You may unsubscribe and/or disable this mod and it will not "break" your game save.

This mod colour-corrects the blue beacons on all default AI emergency vehicles that use blue beacons (police, fire, and ambulance).

The default blue colour looks somewhat purple-ish, and doesn't resemble most of the commonly used lights on real vehicles. This has become more apparent since the 1.29 game update. SCS has added random roadside events that often include emergency vehicles. As well, SCS has changed all default beacons to now have a more realistic strobe effect.

This mod replaces that purple-ish hue to a more realistic, bluer colour as is more commonly seen on lights by major manufacturers such as Whelen and Federal Signal. Affects all AI emergency vehicles with blue beacons. Amber, white, red, or other beacons are unchanged. Vehicles whose beacons are red-only (such as New Mexico State Police) remain red-only. The vehicles themselves and the strobe flash effects are otherwise unchanged.

This mod DOES NOT add flashing beacons to your truck. However, if you also are using a mod that does add blue lights to your truck, this mod may or may not change their colour, depending on whether or not said mod inludes its own flares or refers to the default ones.

This mod DOES NOT allow you to drive a police car, and like any mod that replaces default assets it IS NOT compatible with multiplayer. Questions for either of these will be ignored.

Compatible with other flare mods I've tested it with. I recommend placing this mod in higher priority above other flare mods in order to ensure the blue beacons aren't overwritten.

A version for Euro Truck Simulator is available here.

I have never charged money for my mods, and I don't plan on ever doing so. That said, if you enjoy my mods and would like to donate, your contribution to paypal.me/lonestranger is much appreciated.

@No Future After a crash, read your game.log.txt file in Documents\American Truck Simulator. The last (newest) entries in the log will be warnings and errors related to whatever caused the crash. In my own case when I crashed after the 1.38 update, my game.log.txt had a bunch of errors related to missing traffic. I then disabled the "AST Advanced SCS Traffic" mod, and it was fine. Right now, the "DP's Realistic Traffic RST" mod also crashes on 1.38.

My blue lights mod doesn't add any new files or dependencies, so removing it shouldn't cause any issues.

I didn't even think of that haha, I will test when I can!

@No Future It may be another mod causing the crash, then. Do you use any traffic mods? The 1.38 update will crash when 1.37 traffic mods are active.

Thanks for the reply. I seem to still be crashing when loading after trying that, even though the saves no longer have the red exclamation mark by them :lunar2019deadpanpig:

I'm working on a repair to re-enable this mod for users that are having issues, so it can be activated again. In the meantime, you can manually edit the file in order to re-enable it.

In the same drive as your ATS intallation (C by default), go to Program Files (x86)\SteamLibrary\steamapps\workshop\content\270880\1197165609. It may also be named Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\270880\1197165609

Open "versions.siii" with Notepad or any text editor, and add your current game version to the list. For 1.38 for example, like so:

SiiNunit
{
package_version_info : .latest {
package_name: "informational"
informational: true
}

package_version_info: .131.content {
package_name: "131_content"
compatible_versions[]: "1.29.*"
compatible_versions[]: "1.30.*"
compatible_versions[]: "1.31.*"
compatible_versions[]: "1.38.*"
}
}
