NOW UPDATED FOR EU4 v1.23!

NOTE: This is an update/rerelease of Haven. Haven was formely created by the--dud and most of the work is his, so all credit goes to him. I just threw together an update to make it playable. I will *attempt* to continue updates but no guarentees as my modding experience is, well its this.

An alternate history mod featuring a pirate nation called Haven.

A short while before EU4 starts imagine a gang of pirates led by Captain Jack Morgan on their way to the western coast of Morocco. Imagine a sudden storm sweeping them off west! Imagine after a long and unlikely journey they arrived at new land to the west where they found amazingly lush islands to settle upon!

Main Features:

A new fully featured pirate nation settled on the island of Hispaniola (modern-day Haiti and Dominican Republic).
Carefully crafted to allow a fun and flexible way of playing as a pirate nation. Main focus is on piracy, expansion and trade.
Huge number of custom missions, decisions and events.
Custom technology and unit types.
Custom government(Pirate Court) and religion(No Religion/Atheism).
Custom causus bellis and wargoals.
A new idea group named Liberté which is unique to Haven - partly to compensate for them being unable to pick Religious group. New events relating to idea group as well!
New graphics for pirate tech group and religion.
The ability to encite Colonial Nations to rebel against their overlords! If you have Espionage ideas and there is a colonial nation with at least 25 opinion of you can get an event to spend gold to give them liberty desire and a negative opinion modifier of their overlord.
Letters of Marque can be offered to you via events - these gives you several bonuses as well as a special CB.
All the Republican triggered-only events have been replaced with completely new pirate-specific ones.

Between the years 1600 - 1750 an event will fire called "The Golden Age of Piracy" which gives a bunch of fun bonuses for a hundred years. There are also events relating to a number of real-world famous pirates that can in one way or another join your pirate nation.

Balance:

As a pirate nation you are given significant bonuses to spy-related things, trade and naval stats. You're also of course given access to colonizing the rich provinces of the Caribbean and Americas long before the European powers. To counter this you have your own religion and government type and a hefty -20 diplomatic reputation. You also have special CBs (Pirate Superiority and Pirate Naval Superiority) which gives less prestige gain and more Aggressive Expansion. You will find it very difficult to make friends!

Known Bugs: Usually issues I can't figure out, or haven't gotten around to, so let me know if you have figured out solutions~
I can't seem to fix the tech group icons so as they are entirely obsolete from the institutions system I have removed them until I can figure it out.
There are alot of missed references and other misc errors. Quite a bit has changed since 1.9.2 and so did alot of the scopes. Will delve into these when I have time.
Strip out/redo some of the things like the supporting independence event (not actually sure they work)

The Futureeeeee: The Roadmap if you will (in order of importance/what will be done first)
Berber Interactions - Also the Berber Raid feature?
Decide upon a fair balance for the malus in diplomacy (tributary system?)
Institutions are pretty rough from my play testing. Maybe I could devise something that would keep Haven on par or just a little behind.
Estates feel out of place but maybe they fit. Perhaps a reskin/unique estates or something entirely different.
Early game seems pretty uneventful so perhaps there is something that could go here.
Revamp religion. Maybe.
Graphical Overhaul (Advisor potraits, units;soldiers, missionary, coring, ect.) - Need help on this, if anyone would like to help let me know!


Suggestions, Bug Reports, and Others:
There are threads for suggestions and bug reports, please keep them there instead of in the comments.
As for others, I am always looking for help as I am extremely green (new) when it comes to modding.
I'm would love feedback, critque, compliments, or disses, whatever else you have for me, but please keep things civil.
Playtesting is where I lack the most as I am just one person so please give me feedback on how it plays.
Also the new DLC is coming up in just a few weeks. I hope I'm ready for it but if the update is slow you know why.

20.07.2014 - Fixed crash that resulted from 1.7 Patch/Res Publica.[/b] Changed pirate idea to add -100% accepted culture treshold. Also tweaked the Letters of Marque events so that it's (almost) impossible that a country issues the letter on itself.
18.06.2014 - Added Click's awesome idea of enciting colonial nations to revolt. Improved Haven's flag. Fixed a spelling mistake (thanks Captain Sulu). Added Letter of Marque events.
17.06.2014 - Added new idea group and related events. Gave vision of parts of western Europe at the start of the game.
16.06.2014 - Fixed some bugs. Removed all standard Republican triggered-only events and added completely new pirate-specific events.

I realize it's been three years since you updated this mod, but I'm trying to figure out how to fix that Generals and Professionalism Bug in my own mod. Any advice on what to do?

@marinho I'm thinking it has more to do with the game not even recognizing it as an acceptable country so its just getting rid of it. I feared it was the localisation, but after a pretty deep search it seems I've done everything right. I'll attempt to make a custom event that might 'spawn' the new nation, and give the player the choice to switch to it kind of like with the TAG command in console. I'll keep you guys updated, thanks for the idea. :)

I just took a look at it and tried updating a few things but the amount of stuff that has changed since 1.23 is ludicrous. I havent gotten around to getting Dharma yet but even just in dharma with governments being reformed and all of that stuff is hard for me to wrap my head around. With that being said I do not intend to rework it right now so I would fully support someone else picking up this project.

@Poof If I understand right the Country does not Spawn?
Can you force this with an Event? And maybe let the player decide if he wants to have a pirate nation in the game or not?

I'm currently working on this, though its proving to be quite difficult. I've got it to stop crashing the game but sadly the country is not showing up. Anyone have any suggestions?

@minicrash69 I would love to but theres a tremendous amount of work to be done to even make it playable, let alone make it work as intended to. I do not have the patienece or the time to right now. Perhaps in the future.
