Kingdom Death: Monster - Gorm Settlement Event, Catarium 1.5 Homebrew, Plague Homebrew, Cracks in the Ground Homebrew

Description
An assortment of changes for the 2017 1.5 edition of KDM.

---

Qualm before the Gorm Settlement Event:
- Custom settlement event that serve the purpose of triggering Gorm as a quarry via settlement event.

To randomise huntable monsters via settlement events. I want to give praise to houstono, for more information and instructions see the original homebrew he created: https://boardgamegeek.com/filepage/129827/custom-expansion-t...
Rip-off of Approaching Storm with some changes catering to years from LY2 and onwards.

Truly, this is for when Honeycomb Weaver and Frogdog are part of the game so we can randomise 4 starting quarries. I disagree with houstono's original reasoning but I agree that before 2019 this doesn't really serve a purpose yet.

I'm thinking of doing one for White Lion too, but curious to see how KD:M develops. Definitely want to see some for Spidicules and White Lion!

---

1.5 Catarium Homebrew Edit:
- White Lion Skirt build cost reduced to 1 x White Fur.
- White Lion Gauntlets build cost reduced to 1 x White Fur.

White Lion set now only requires 6 monster resources and 2 basic resources to build (down from 6:4).

It's way easier to make Rawhide (0:5), Antelope (5:4) and Leather armour (0:9), these much better than White Lion armour so I made it a little easier to build a clearly inferior set in need of a buff.

---

Plague Homebrew Edit:
- For the initial 1d10 roll: Add +1 to the result for every Science innovation your settlement has.

Plague is an early game killer and potentially game ending especially when combined with some other events such as Gorm Climate. Randomness that can lead to the destruction of your settlement is not great game design after a victorious showdown, especially if the victory came after struggling beforehand.

There are 6 Science innovations in the core game. 5 after LY26. If this change bothers you, you can house rule lantern 1 to be always fail.

---

Cracks in the Ground Homebrew Edit:
- Reworked roll result for 1 allowing a character to survive if their strength plus luck is equal to or greater than the heavy gear in their grid.
- Reworked roll result for 2-5. May survive if they spend 1 survival.

The 1 roll is pretty bad on the original version of Cracks in the Ground. Heavy gear is bullied too much in the game and to lose the gear forever is a huge, evil deal. If a survivor is strong enough, surely they shouldn't be over encumbered? Their weight does not cause the split, it just means they're unable to run away or their weight causes the splitting ground to break leading them to slip into the ground. My logic is that if they're strong enough they hold on and pull themselves back up.

Luck is so people don't depend so much on building strength to avoid this event, Evasion wouldn't be too great or else they wouldn't have slipped in the first place. Imagine Luck makes a piece of their gear catch on the side of a cliff holding them up and supporting their weight.

2-5 change is just for parity, if 1 roll can survive 2-5 roll should do. (Hopefully this doesn't lead to people banking 1 survival to survive this event as it is entirely random choice, I don't want to encourage bad gaming habbits, that's bad game design as that survival may come in handy during the showdown.

Your welcome? Again, it is the 1.5 version of the card except for two differences: Gauntlets and Skirt are reduced in price. This is described on this page.

It uses the 1.5 version of the card, as you can tell by the affinity change. It's a replacement intended for the 1.5 version of Catarium.

I was originally going to make the boots 1 white fur! :)
But it's one of the best standalone items in the set.

So I singled out Gauntlets (relies on chestpiece) and skirt (has no special properties) for the reduction as they're the least impressive in the set.

Personally, I'd probably do White Lion Gauntlets as (1 white fur + 1 scrap) and change the boots to 1 white fur only
