How to get the Official GCN Adaptor to Work in AHiT

Play with a Gamecube Controller using the Official Wii U/Switch Adaptor!

Downloading The Requirements

First what you’ll need to do is Download this program to set up the drivers.
Follow all its instructions very carefully.
I, nor any of the creators are responsible for any drivers you may accidentally remove.

Steam Big Picture Mode's Only Use

After you have downloaded the program and setup the controller, open Steam in Big Picture Mode, and locate A Hat in Time.


From here choose the Manage Game option, then under Steam Controller, choose Controller Options.


Make sure Use Steam Configuration for Non-Steam Controllers is checked.
Then choose Controller Configuration and map each button to your preferred layout.

Now Play!

Finally, start the game. You should be all set!
Note: The game will read it as an XBOX 360 controller, but it works just as intended.

The game natively supports GCN controllers through 3rd party adaptors. The official Wii U/Switch adaptor requires extra work to be compatible.

according to the ini config files this game natively supports gamecube controllers (as well as a bunch of other controllers. but i think to use them "natively" you cant launch the game through steam as steam automatically emulates a xbox 360 controller/XBONE controller.

The driver is specifically for the Gamecube adaptor, but if you have any adaptors that work on PC by default, then yeah you could use them if you really wanted to haha.

Thats normal, and isn't really fixable unless you change the Xbox 360 Config file.
