Description
OBO, pronounced "oboe" (yes, like the instrument), stands for "Overall Balance Overhaul."

This is a script that rebalances the Arctic Warfare Magnum, AWM / AWP. This weapon was horrendously underpowered in vanilla (see below stats), and desperately needed some attention. This weapon did 115 damage, at a fire rate of 1.05. To put that into perspective, the Military Sniper did 90 damage, at a fire rate of 0.25 (lower = faster). Basically, almost every single gun in the game far outperformed the Arctic Warfare in DPS, including the pistols. The goal of this mod is to make the weapon more distinct by working around the painfully slow fire rate inherent in bolt-actions, and give it some areas to shine in.

So I've turned it into a damage powerhouse with a very specific role. In terms of raw damage, penetration, and DPS, this weapon is unrivaled by any other primary in the game (not including the M60 / GL or turret emplacements). But it comes with a few significant drawbacks, such as the inherent fire rate, high aim requirement, extreme friendly fire risk, long reload, small magazine, and terrible horde survivability. Backup Pistols are pretty much required.

Essentially, I've turned it into a specialized anti-Boss and anti-Special screener, ideally equipped on a single member of the team with good trigger discipline (friendly fire with this gun melts). I made a few other tweaks, including a few "feel" changes such as increasing vertical kickup (doesn't affect gameplay due to slow fire rate). All tweaks are listed in the changelog below, for your convenience.

WARNING:
Weapon replacers for the CS weapons often come with a script file like this one, specifically to fix an issue that makes the gun left handed. The short version is that the script that mods come with will conflict with scripts like mine. When scripts conflict, one takes priority and overwrites the other. If the script that comes with another mod overwrites this one, your weapon will have vanilla stats. There's a pretty simple solution to this that takes minimal effort.

THE QUICK SOLUTION:
Simply subscribe to this mod first and then subscribe to the weapon replacer you want to use. There will still be a conflict, but mods that are subscribed to first are higher in the addon list, and take priority. If you don't mind red (conflicting) addons in your addon list, then this is all you need to do, and you can safely move on to the changelog below.

THE LONG SOLUTION:
If your OCD is like mine and you hate having red (conflicting) addons, then you will need to manually remove the included script in the weapon replacer you want to use, so that this mod's one is the only installed script. To do so, you will need to use the GCFScape tool to open the weapon replacer's .vpk file in your addons folder, extract the mod, delete the script it comes with, then turn it back into a .vpk again (by using the "vpk.exe" in the "bin" folder in your Left 4 Dead 2's install directory), and overwrite the old mod in your addons folder with the new one you created. You may need to install the L4D2 Authoring tools in the Tools tab in Steam for the vpk.exe file to appear. If you need more guidance, the internet is your friend. That's how I learned to do it.

Oh you know what, false alarm, the weapon mod I use has a really short draw animation.

@Bitz:
Pull the old DOOM Eternal trick? Sure.

If anybody wants to absolutely just break the balancing of this script, right after firing, swap to another weapon and then swap back to the AWP and repeat until target is dead, basically circumventing the firing speed, doing insane damage. You can literally kill a witch before they aggro with this method.

Umm, do you know where to get the AWP skin mod in the Screenshot?
Tks

Yeah, that's what should have happened. Although, I've found that re-subscribing to a mod will make the latest one overwrite the earlier one, but this doesn't always work. It's oddly finicky and only works sometimes. Not sure why. Maybe it'll help you. :)
