How to configure mouse steering
Look for the control binding steering axis and set it for your X axis on your mouse by moving it side to side for 5 seconds then stop and wait 2 seconds and it should be set then just hit apply or ok whatever the confirmation button is
Configure your car ideally for your preferance

Typically you want a welded or limited slip differential and quick ratio steering but steering is entirely up to you and your going to want a bit of steering angle so chose a car that has or can obtain alot of steering angle

Either don't touch your power or dont add alot if you arent sliding it's you not the car, don't push yourself onto some high horsepower spinout machine

If you can't initiate even if you turn extremely and quickly then try clutchkicking
(hold shift for a period of time desired or until hits rpm your comfortable with and release)

Also try avoiding turbos to start they have surges of power even on the stage 1 turbo
The power surges in around 4.5k rpm on the stage 1 turbo

You can use the moonhawk and the barstow with stage 1 super charges if you really need power but don't want turbo lag, there is a modpack that adds more angle and faster steering for the muscle cars making the viable for drifting https://www.beamng.com/resources/ccs-drift-steering-addon.1746/
HOWEVER, you MUST put on racing or heavy duty suspension the body roll will throw you off and even then the weight transfer is MASSIVELY destructive in these vehicles but not so much so on the barstow

My reccomendations are:
200bx
ETK-I series
sunburst after converting to rwd with limited slip

Initiating a "Drift"

1. Steer in slowly
2. this arrow represents the position i estimate the wheel should be in when the car begins sliding
The yellow notch shows center position where the other yellow notch should line up when going straight
3. counter steer quickly to compensate but not to quickly or you'll throw you self out of the drift and back into grip then understeer into a wall

^^^^ image shows counter steering

Notice the yellow notch is to the right suggesting my wheels are pointed right,
Wrong.
At this point the wheel has done about 1 and 3/4 of a revolution roughly

Also the arrow pointing at the rumble strip is representing the fact that i use the strip as a guage for how tight my corner is how much where i am on my lines and so on, primarily i use it as a guage for what i do.
What not to do
Don't listen to an initial d soundtrack, it just doesnt help, i've tried

still runs bad though, hopefully soon i get my GTX 1030 4gb Vram

i think your GPU is holding you back, or your ram speed in Mhz

For some reason, the game is very slow randomly. Used to run amazing, and now idk whats happening. Im done with BeamNG for now.

Yeah, true that. I've played for a long time with controllers on many video games, so playing with mouse steering is kind of weird for me.

I really dislike controllers because i've never gotten used to them i find mouse extremely easy however i see where your coming from and it's really just about what works 4 you.
