Little guide that teach how to use the VSS Vintorez the way it should be used

Introduction

Hi everyone, in this guide I'll try to explain the VSS basics rules. The VSS is a subsonic silenced sniper rifle mainly used by the russian army. This rifle uses heavy 9x39mm armor-percing ammunitions but in the game they got changed in 9x19mm, the same of the UMP9 :(

Thanks to the built-in silencer and the subsonic fire this is a very stealthy gun...	...but the bullets drop faster and moving targets are difficult to hit

The gun uses the normal sniper rifle attachments (same as the Kar98k, SKS, ...) but it only uses the mag (extended, quickdraw or extended quickdraw mag) and the cheek pad. This makes perfectly sense because you can't obviously detach the silencer and the scope.

It has a 10 rounds magazine that goes up to 20 with and extended mag.

About the scope

As I already said the VSS uses a PSO-1 scope with a 4x magnification (the same as a ACOG). The built-in scope is worse than an ACOG because it's smaller so it gives a smaller view, as you can see from the image below.




The reticle is quite complicated but it is full of useful informations. Let's take a look:



The most important part of the reticle are obviously the chevrons. The first one must be used for targets at 0m to 100m, the second one if the targets is near the 200m range and so on, as showed in the image.

The distance line instead helps you to choose the right chevron: let's say I'm aiming at Bill (which is 200m away from me, but this I don't know yet). Bill is standing still (lucky me) so what I have to do is lining up Bill in the distance line so that his head is behind the upper line (second line if the target is crouched).



As you can see Bill fit perfectly (again, lucky me) the second line so I know that I have to use the second chevron in order to compensate the bullet drop. If the target fits in the fourth line (400m) you'll have to use a fourth imaginary chevron in order to properly aim. That's why the VSS should not be used to shoot targets farther than 400 meters.

Ok, I'm aiming, what now?

Shoot (duh).

First of all do not use the full-auto fire mode. Again, quite obvious, but you never know.
The VSS has a very low recoil if you shoot in single fire mode and if you have a cheek-pad mounted it's even better. If your target is not moving and is in the 100-300m range just shoot a 5-6 bullets volley.
This SHOULD be enough but sometimes (if the target has full health and a level 3 body armor) you'll have to shoot up to 7 bullets, which are a lot.

This table shows how many bullets you'll have to shoot to a target by its armor:

You should not shoot moving targets: the bullet speed is very low and this causes issues when shooting moving players. It's (almost) always better to wait them to stop and then shoot.

Regarding the auto-fire mode, you should only use without aiming (third-person is better) when you don't have any other weapon available. That's because you're shooting just ten low damage projectiles knowing that some will not even hit the target.

Notice that the VSS is a very quiet weapon not only for the silencer but also for the absence of the sonic boom when shooting. This makes the VSS the perfect weapon for a full-stealth playstyle.
