HOW TO FIX VIDEO GLITCHES

So you start Quake 3, and all is good. However, when you get to the main menu, everything goes wrong! The graphics mess up and make the game unplayable. You exit the game by force, because you can't do anything else. This will show you how to fix this glitch.

THE FIX

1) Go to your Steam Library.
2) Right-click on 'Quake III: Arena'.
3) Select 'Properties'.
4) Select the 'Local Files' tab.
5) Click the 'Browse Local Files' button.
6) A Windows explorer window will pop up. Find 'quake3.exe' and right-click on it.
7) When the properties window opens, click on the 'Compactibility' tab.
8) Tick 'run this program in compactibility for:' option.
9) Select 'Windows XP (Service Pack 3)'.
10) Exit, applying changes.
11) Try now. If you're lucky, the game should launch!
12) If it still doesn't work, it is worth trying to disable the Steam overlay, as it is known for causing the glitch.

I was very sceptical about this one. "Compactibility" fix usually does not work for me in older games. But this one actually fixed my issue. Thank you.
