Custom Image as Social Club Avatar

Step-by-Step how to Upload a Custom Avatar to the Social Club page by using gta5view.

Update 6th July 2023

Most people i asked don't experienced takedowns, but there is still risk.
I recommend to delete the Snapmatic after you applied it as your Avatar.

Update 17th December 2023

Some people reporting Custom pictures at the moment.
You should delete the Snapmatic directly after you choose it as avatar.

Social Club Code of Conduct Change

Rockstar have updated their Social Club Code of Conduct recently, which says that User Generated Content need to follow "Social Club standards", which probably means that Content posted needs to be related to the game.

Import your Custom Avatar into your GTA V profile

GTA V: Enhanced Edition: You need to manually select the "GTAV Enhanced" folder:
C:\Users\YourUserName\Documents\Rockstar Games\... - either "GTAV Enhanced" or "GTA V".
You don't need to update gta5view.

Note: When you got a profile selection you have to find out on which profile you are currently playing on.


Open gta5view and press the Import... button.


Select your Avatar file you want to Import, you can use .jpg and .png files for this step.


Keep sure that Avatar is checked and that your Avatar looks good inside of the white square, otherwise try to edit it with a external Image editor.


Close gta5view and boot up your GTA V.

Uploading your Avatar into Social Club

Load into your game (Story Mode or Online) and press Escape (Esc Key) and navigate to Gallery and press Left Control (L Ctrl Key) for starting the upload process when you have selected your picture.


Press Pos1 (Home key on some keyboards) to open the Social Club overlay and press the gear at the upper right to open Settings. After that navigate to Change Avatar and select Snapmatic Selfies and Mugshots to see the list of Avatar you are able to upload. Select the Avatar you want to have and press Submit.
Note: It could take sometime until it appears in Social Club after you uploaded it.

View your profile

After you uploaded and selected your Avatar you should take a look at your Social Club profile.
Note: Submitting your Avatar can take sometime because their Server are rendering the Avatar.

After that all is done you should have your Custom Avatar on your Social Club profile ^-^

Did it, said take a few minutes to process 2h later still not uploaded, so I tried again said few minutes to process another 3h went by and nothing, then I tried again it said a few minuted and it's now been another 2h and still nothing

its already proven and common knowledge that any custom images uploaded with this tool will be removed and account punished upon report. people just havent reported them alot yet

every person who uploads content like custom pfp's with this, is putting literal timebombs in their account waiting to be blown up when someone reports them

But to you its fine because they arent being reported enough yet.

I know you was talking about Custom content, but i mention to you that Rockstar targets non-Custom aswell, and examples from these cases exists since 2016 to my knowledge.
Things are still not out of hand, if things would be, lot of more people would had to say something, and i would hear of much more cases than currently exists.
You the only one here loud atm.

if you think that i meant "dont upload any content because it can be reported" you are an actual moron. I said, that custom profile photos can and will be removed by rockstar upon reporting.

there is no point trying to defend this unless you truly want people to be punished because of this tool.

Things have gotten out of hand and people are in risk of even getting their socialclub accounts deleted but yet here you are, guide is still up and for some reason trying to defend it.

Rockstar saw no need to act on gta5view for long time too, just recently when the amount of malicious users increased, and these users will keep going no matter if gta5view stop working or existing, they will find ways to cause problems on Social Club without it.
Rockstar would acted way sooner when they had issue with the project itself, more i can't say about it.
As reminder, we could do custom pictures since February 2017.

People report all content, even things which was not made externally or break ToS, their things got removed even when there was no reason for it, i heard cases in 2016 where people took a picture in-game and uploaded it and some people reported it and then it got removed, so by your logic people should not upload any content because it can be reported

Profile pictures count as custom content as much as snapmatics do. peoplem just havent reported profile pictures alone as much as they have reported snapmatics. if it happened even once, it happens to everyone as long as people realize they can report custom profile photos on the main page of your profile. dont be stupid.

@Zephyr profile picture taken down is extremely rare still, it happend to few people but not the amount that pictures got removed from Snapmatic
If there would be more problems, i would get e-mails left and right
