Cooking Career (Hearthfire version)

Description
HEARTHFIRE IS REQUIRED.

A simple mod designed to improve some role playing options for players.

This mod simply improves the value of all cooked foods. The general goal was to make sure the value of the meal not only covered the cost of the base ingredients required, but also added a bit on top to represent a profit margin that a cook would put on his food.

Example:

A normal Pheasant Roast is valued at 4 gold.
However: Salt (2 gold) plus the value of pheasant breast (3 gold) comes to 5 gold. No normal cook would bother making this to sell because there is no profit. Therefore i simply double the total ingredient value and add a bit, raising the value to 12 gold.

I wont bother listing all price increases, but they arent serious or game breaking. The only dramatic increase in value is with Elsweyr Fondue. Because it uses expensive Moon Sugar (50 gold), ive increased the value up from 3 gold to 120 gold. This sort of includes the risk associated with using illegal drugs as an ingredient.

IMPORTANT NOTE: I would love feedback on any problems. Due to the unpredictable levels of peoples characters, im not 100% sure that low level people might still struggle to get profits, especially if they buy all the ingredients. I often play a hunter character, so gathering raw meats is an even better way to increase profit margins.

------------------
Players should now find that a career as a chef is now possible, since profits can be made. I prefer to make simple mods like this which give options for people's imaginations and role playing instincts to take advantage of.

After some play testing ive also found that the rough rule ive used to increase value even works well in the face of having poor speechcraft or merchants simply not paying top dollar for food. For example: Something ive valued at 12 gold might only get an offer of 7 gold from a merchant. This value is elss than its value, but still covers the total ingredient value. This gives you room to improve your speechcraft, etc etc. Just thought id add this little not in as a FYI.

A version is uploaded for people who dont have Hearthfire.

Enjoy.

Im not sure any default recipes require water...Could you tell me which ones?
I imagine you are using a mod of some kind which makes recipes more realistic or something.

I found a mod where the player can build his or her own merchant stand (Adura's Merchant Mod - Player Shops) and sell through this stand his products. But thanks for your reply, I will try your mod!

@Highelf:

To be honest that would be too complex. Every NPC would then essentially be a merchant who you could trade with. Too complex.

Instead of selling direct to the public, maybe you should role play as a cook employed by a local Tavern. If, say, you have a house in Winterhold, then cook at home (or at the local Tavern) and sell the food directly to the Publican (whoever runs the pub). This simulates you supplying the tavern, and it also simulates you getting paid for your job.

Can you make us sell the food directly to the people? As a speechoption?

yeah, excellent work! I also want to make a mod like this, since many "Delta" from cooked food are negative values... that's stupid!

Load up both files and see what the conflict is, if there is one. Then fix it. Never heard of that mod though. This mod only changes the value of food items, so i doubt it would be incompatible with any other mod.

If you wanted to use the prices in my mod, just make sure its loaded below the other one. If you dont want to use my new prices, then why would you subscribe to it..?
