This guide is for you if you:
  • Are a completionist and can't fathom sitting through this challenge once you start the game.
  • Get crippling anxiety just thinking about this challenge.
  • Must complete this in the first segment of the game for all those sweet, sweet cards (and future achievements >:).
  • Spend most of your time sitting in a dark room contemplating playing Final Fantasy 9.

If any or all of these qualities pertain to you, then you're in luck! This guide will ease away that dread.

Note: There is a bug (intentional?) where clicking the (!) with the mouse will not interfere with the jumping animation, unlike a controller, which must be sequenced using the keypad (B) when the (!) shows up. Whatever the case, this is the exploit we'll be using in this guide.
Sequence
Step 1: Download this autoclicker from https://sourceforge.net/projects/orphamielautoclicker/?source=typ_redirect
Step 2: Set the game to windowed mode.
Step 3: Open the Auto Clicker and set the click interval to 1 millisecond.
Step 4: Open Final Fantasy 9 and get to the jump rope section.
Step 5: Note that F6 will start the program. F6 also stops the program.
Step 6: Press F6 whilst your cursor is atop the (!) on Vivi's head.
Step 7: You should be able to use the speed function (F1) to progress right up to 195 jumps. Press F1 again to stop the speed function because after 200 jumps, it will become too fast for the autoclicker to keep up.
Step 8: (?)
Step 9: Profit (1000 Jumps)

Hint: Don't have anything that vibrates near your mouse, as this will move it slightly and cause it to click outside of the (!), disabiling your ability to continue.
Set-Up
Just make your program look like this image.

Termination
Alas, this guide was made in response to some of the more complicated guides I had seen on Steam. In particular, this guide: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=671026945

Hope this guide was helpful.

Thumbs up to @LinkTech for making me aware of the exploit.

Theirs was the first thread that came up after a quick google search https://steamcommunity.com/app/377840/discussions/0/361787186422679797/

Just did this, and it works, but two things I messed up at first:
1. You need to be in windowed mode. If you aren't, save your game with the moogle that's in the steeple after the rat kid goes there with the ladder.
2. Make sure the mouse cursor is on the ! above Vivi's head (the ! should get a brown background when you hover over it). Start Auto Clicker with F6, and don't move the mouse cursor.

Turn off your BLUETOOTH. I like to play this using a controller and I connect it using bluetooth. I tried and I tried and tried to get this to work and Vivi always failed. Sometimes I could could get as high as 100 but not much further and not often. At one point, my controller turned off from not being used and it worked perfectly for me after that.

Doesn't work. Vivi keeps tripping around jump 60. Sometimes as early as jump 34. No idea why (and mouse is completely stable).

So there is a easier way to beat this without getting an auto click app. You will need the Moguri mod and this can work on steam deck as well. go into your files of ff9 and go into file Memoria.ini and search the files until you find RopeJumpingIncrement=1 you can change the number 1 to 100 then 1000 if needed. This saves much time and space needed to focus your energy on the actual game. Call me Maui because your welcome.

One suggestion, 1-~190 and 300+ use F1 boost, but between 200-300 don't.

That's what I had to do to succeed in this ach.

Just putting this out there for those who want an alternative to auto-clickers if you're concerned about security. Go to cheat engine's website and click downloads on the side panel and click on the hyperlink that says "without any configuration of file access permission by the setup click here." That's a portable version that doesn't require install, it takes a little bit of messing around but is by far is the cleanest set up since it's not installed in programs. once you have it running there are a bajillion youtube vids on how to enable a speedhack in most games that'll do the trick. OFC, though you're definitely doing a speedhack, it'd be more accurate to call it a slow hack lol.

Default value is 1 for speedhack so mess around with decimals. starting at .9 and then lowering it til you hit that sweet spot where it's easy to click but not to slow as to miss frames and get an input borked.
