Crimson Skies (Hexgame)

Description
DISCLAIMER:

The sets of rules that I share here are NOT the original rule sets (and currently out of print) created by FASA for the Crimson Skies board game. If you wish to play the game with the original FASA rules, (or the WizKids version, or any other rule set for that matter) you have to find them yourself, as I cannot distribute them (To be honest, most are not that hard to find, and the aircraft sheets can be easily made with this tool[www.foxforcefive.nutz.de]). All rights of everything in the Crimson Skies franchise belongs to their rightful owners, not me. All custom tokens were made by me, except for the engine nacelle, turret and late-effect tokens, which were taken from an official source.

WARNING: Due to the amount of tokens with invisibility overlays, the game takes a while to load.

For more information about the Crimson Skies setting, including stories about the Aces of the skies, visit this[firedrake.org] website.

Introduction

Crimson Skies is a character-based board game of dogfighting and dive bombing in an aviation-dominated world; a simple, fast-playing game of pulp-fiction-style air combat. It is a game about the men and women who pilot flying nightmares, the metal-sheathed birds of prey that spit death from the sky.

In Crimson Skies, you are at the top of the aviation food chain - a fighter pilot, one of the fearless men and women who take to the skies each day for honor or profit. Each player generates a minimum of two characters, a pilot and his or her wingman. If your characters survive from mission to mission, they gain experience that can translate into better skills, and thus even better chances for future survival and success. While this is a combat board game, not a roleplaying game, telling tales about your characters will invest the game with action, drama and humor, making the game-playing experience even more enjoyable. Even so, the setting allows for interesting character evolution and development, so creating a long-term roleplaying campaign in it is actually possible.

What's in the box?

- 25 different aircraft tokens ready for combat, all with their own statistics, advantages, disadvantages and quirks. From the venerable Devastator Mk. II to the speedster Bloodhawk to the bruiser Warhawk, there is enough variety in planes to create interesting dogfights and raids. (The 14 original aircraft + 3 extra from the PC game or were not in the original board game set + 7 extra from "Behind the Crimson Veil" expansion pack + 1 with self made statistics. More to come.)

- 19 different tokens for ordinance and ammo types, including explosive and incendiary ammunition for machine guns, the feared beeper and seeker rocket combination and the devastating aerial torpedo.

- 3 later-resolution tokens for Flak, Flare and Sonic explosions.

- Red marker tokens to symbolise unpassable hexes.

- 4 different zeppelin tokens, for your roleplaying and zeppelin raid needs (from a simple cargo zeppelin to a luxury liner, including the Pandora, Fortune Hunter's own zeppelin), plus 4 different zeppelin engine tokens with different turret facings, a turret token, and even a crashed zeppelin prop token.

- 2 Maneuver Templates and a quick-reference guide for the most important combat rules (such as weapon damage, rolls, and special rules) and another quick-reference guide for critical hit damage.

- A sky background that can be changed by whatever the players want, and customised with red marker tokens. Everything, from aircraft to airships to hexes can be scaled up or down to create larger or smaller arenas at the players' whims.

- Comes with a fully assembled Zeppelin (Zeppelin token, Engine Nacelle tokens and Turret tokens) and it's diagram as an example on how zeppelins are meant to be assembled.

I have most of the old FASA rules in .pdf format but I only really use the core rules and any rules that incorporate all the planes that there are miniatures for... and beyond the Crimson Veil just to have access to special equipment for customizing a plane to a pilots personal tastes...
