Description
A simple genotype and subtype expansion that introduces playable snapjaws to Caves of Qud. Snapjaws have low starting stats and are difficult to play throughout the game. Theybenefit from a single starting mutation point, which may be spent on a mutation or a mutation category like esper or chimera.

As of July 2018 you can play as a cyborg snapjaw. It makes no sense, but it might make your pitiful existance more fun.
Snapjaws gain high reputation with Snapjaws, naturally, but are hated by the Villagers of Joppa. For now, they start in Joppa, though you won't want to stay there for very long.

Snapjaw characters can choose seven classes: Scavenger, Hunter, Brute, and Warrior, Mad Tinker, Warlord, and Domestic Snapjaw. They mostly draw from the same pool of starting items, from which they get a default weapon, a random weapon, a random armor piece, and a random additional clothing item.

Scavengers get the widest variety of starting equipment, and can scavenge and use short blades effectively.

Hunters get less access to heavy melee weapons, but start with a bow. They also have higher agility.

Brutes get higher strength and toughness, in addition to having a fewer light weapons. They have cudgel and endurance skills.

Warriors get higher strength, in addition to having fewer light weapons and always get some sort of armor. They are proficient with long blades and shields

Mad Tinkers are the same as scavengers but have a boost to intelligence and a penalty to willpower, plus a variety of tinker skills.

Warlords are warriors with heavy stat bonuses in all areas and the proselytize and inspiring presence skills. For an easier early game.

Domestic Snapjaw: A snapjaw that isn't hated by Joppans. Can harvest and scavenge, but can't do much else.
Update 7/31/2017: Added empty waterskins and a pawful of vinewafers to snapjaw inventories, so that you can get somewhere without dying of hunger and dehydration. This also lets you actually sell stuff. Furs were also added as an armor possibility.

Update 1/4/2017: Fixed the broken hunter for the new cooking update

Update 3/11/2018: Added the camping skill, gave snapjaws actual snapjaw bodies, gave them more vinewafers so that they don't die as easily in the wild. added Mad Tinker, Warlord, and Domestic Snapjaw subtypes.

Update 7/18/2018: Accomodates the new random starts (the canyon village is the most appropriate IMO). Also you can play as a cyborg snapjaw, because why not.

Update 5/12/2018: Resolved bug for Domestic Snapjaws

Update 8/29/2020: Added IsMutant token to mutant Snapjaws

For some reason the health starts with a 0/-4 or 5 at the start of the game, any reason for that happening?

Okay, I'm back, and it appears that by playing "Ordinary/ Non-Cyborg" Snapjaws, the game starts up normally. It's whenever I try to play a Mad Tinker or Domesticated Snapjaw with Cybernetics that my game refuses to start. Hope this helps in identifying the problem!

Hi, I've come to add to the list of people who say that their game won't open after creating a Snapjaw character; though funnily enough, the very first time enabled the mod it worked... but the townsfolk all killed me as soon as the place loaded.
After that, the game wouldn't start! I've disabled and re-enabled the mods, hoping that would work; I exited out of the game, let it sit for a minute or so, then re-entered the game; all of this didn't do anything to alleviate the problem and I come to you now seeking help.

What must I do to enable the game to play? Because otherwise I'm going to have to unsubscribe this mod and the Enhanced Snapjaws mod. Which is a shame because I always play Gnoll in DND and when I saw this mod, I thought, "Awesome!" Yet I... well, I'm having doubts now.

@Lunar Toast
Any chance you could tell us what to change to make it work?
At the moment it just crashes on character creation and returns to main menu.

The game keeps crashing for me too, unfortunately. Any chance for a fix?
