Introduction

Welcome to my guide where I will tell You how to raise FPS in Starbound.

!!!
I apologize in advance for mistakes in text, I'm just from Russia
!!!

— just want to clarify for everyone - my manual may not increase much or does not increase FPS.
— another point, these guides a lot, Yes! but I decided to combine all methods in one beautifully designed guide.
First — config

Let's start:

  • First things first open the folder with the game Starbound. (E:\Steam\SteamApps\common\Starbound\storage)
  • Then open a file with the name starbound.config using any text editor.
  • Next, searching using the key combinations (Ctrl+F) the word "vsync" and change the value to "false" - which is the default to "true"
  • Save the file and go into Starbound and see did it help or not.

— can also try to run 32-bit version games
The second — workshop

You can also install various add-ons from the workshop

Parallax Removal — This mod intends to improve FPS performance by removing all parallax images.
You won't see any parallax images in your planets (lush background, desert background, buildings, etc), only the space background (see screenshots).

Optimizebound — Optimizebound aims to improve your game performance without any noticeable quality loss. To achieve this I've used PNGGauntlet, a png lossless compression tool, to optimize all png files found within the 'assets.pak' file. The most noticeable improvement you will notice is a faster chunk loading, to the point that it almost won't be noticeable, also, it may reduce microstutterings and give a small FPS boost.

No Shadows — This mod increases performance by disabling point light shadows through a .patch of the lighting.config. All point lights will act as regular lights. The decrease in atmosphere will hopefully be made up for in an increase in frame rate.

Perfect armor effect/lag remover — It just removes that weird green particle effect from perfect armor and it increases FPS. Yeah i know it's a very simple mod.
Conclusion

Ending, I hope, I helped
I hope for a good review of this manual.
Again, this guide was created to collect all ~existing ways to increase FPS and put them on one page.

Thank you for this guide. However, it is sad and pathetic that Chucklefish can't optimize their own game.

Disable VSYNC in config file located inside steam game folder.
