The Phoenix Zoo opened in 1962 and is the largest privately owned, non-profit zoo in the United States. Located in Phoenix, Arizona, the zoo was founded by Robert Maytag, a member of the Maytag family, and operates on 125 acres of land in the Papago Park area of Phoenix.

Update May 26, 2024: Refurbished Gift Shop and Harmony Farm. Built Vulture Habitat to Predator Passage and refurbished old Lion habitat to house Red River Hogs.

Update October 16, 2023: Replaced Bactrian Camel with Dromedary Camel, added African Porcupine to African Trail, added Scimitar Oryx to Desert Lives, added Somali Wild Ass to Harmony Farm, added Tasmanian Devil, and temporary added Spectacled Flying Fox where Turkey Vultures will be.

Update April 19, 2023: Added Lar Gibbons to Gibbon Island, added Brown Throated Sloth to Forest of Uco, replaced Nile Monitor to Asian Water Monitor in Land of the Dragons, and replaced Carousel with new one.

Update December 13, 2022: Added Maned Wolf and Butterfly House. Replaced Red Kangaroos with Red-Necked Wallabies and replaced Koalas with Emus.

Update July 25, 2022: Made some changes to Siamang and White Buffed-Cheeked Gibbon Island and added more detail.

Update June 21, 2022: Added Siamangs, Scimitar-Horned Oryx, Axolotl, Education Stations, and Thunderbirds Charities Equine Facilities and Arena "Przewalski's Horse".

Update May 2, 2022: Redid Dromedary Camel Habitat, Refurbished Starbucks Stand into Jungle Java stand, added Kettle Corn, and Beer Stand.

Update April 12, 2022: Added Siamang Ramada, Gibbon Ramada, added Red Crowned Crane, replaced Giant Otter with Asian Small Clawed Otter, added Chuti the Cutie the Indian Rhinocerous inside Indian Elephant enclosure .

Update June 27, 2021: Added Meerkats, Fennec Fox, and Southern White Rhino. Also added billboards and speakers throughout the zoo.

Update Dec. 8, 2020: Added Giant Otters, replaced Garial for Cuvier's Dwarf Caiman, replaced Diamondback Rattlesnakes for Diamondback Terrapin at Guest Services, made water deeper for Saltwater Crocodiles, furnished the ticket booths, and added other details to the zoo.

Update September 23, 2020: Devs checking for bugs.

Update August 27, 2020: Added Southern Cassowary, Red Kangaroo, Koala, and added vending machines throughout the zoo.

Update July 29, 2020: Added Giraffe Feeding Station, added a variety of birds like pelicans, added bird platforms and nests at the lake.

Update July 7, 2020: Added Yakulla Caverns Splash Pad.

Update June 8, 2020: Added Island Cruise, redid all islands, added Chimpanzees temporarily to Gibbon Island, added Enchanted Forest.

Update May 15, 2020: Added Howler Monkey habitat, Spider Monkey habitat, renovated Guest Services Center, and installed two new fountains in the lake by the front entrance. Did other tweaks as well.

Update May 3, 2020: Renovated both Tortoises's exhibits, renovated Desert Marketplace, tore down playground and added a plaza where guests can relax, eat, and enjoy watching the Gibbons swing and sing on there little island.

Update April 21, 2020: Redid parking lot and added a new picnic/park, hiking trail, and two new lakes for guests to enjoy for free.

Update April 14, 2020: Added signs throughout my zoo and other details.

Update April 8, 2020: Added Jaguar Habitat, Anteater habitat, Red-Eyed Tree Frog exhibit, Harmony Farm "has Llamas and Dall Sheep", redid and added Capuchins to Monkey Village.

Update March 23, 2020: Added Doornbos Discovery Amphitheater, School Group Entrance, all welfare of animals are good so no protesters now, expanded some exhibits, and more touch ups to zoo.

Update March 8, 2020: Added Sting Ray Bay, started building Siamang Island "is not in an accurate location due to limited space and boundaries", worked on adding more details to the zoo.

Update March 3, 2020: Added Warthog Habitat, Springbok Habitat, and worked, but not finished Arizona Trail with the first animal added in which is the Pronghorn.

Update Feb. 18, 2020: Added Conservation Center, Education and Event Center, two new cafes, Picnic Pavilion, Splash Pad, Playground, Stone House Pavilion, Ruby's House, other details and refurbishes.

Update Jan. 27, 2020: Added Savanna Grill, Photo Booth, Souvenir Shop, redid Arizona Trail entrance, worked on Reptile House, moved bathroom and Starbucks to more accurate location, worked on front plaza.

Update Jan.11, 2020: Redid and also Added Orangutan: People of the Forest, Tropical Flights, Monkey Village, Chilean Flamingo Exhibit, Forest of Uco and it's village, added Information Center, 4D Theater, Added Cafes throughout the park and more bathrooms, added more foliage and details.

Update Nov. 19, 2019: Added Desert Lives Trail.
