One of the last good total war historical games. Combat is mediocre with a somewhat functioning morale system and moral shocks, due to it being dummed down compared to the old pre rome 2 total war games. Better than rome 2, factions have actual variety making each one feel different rather than just being the same country in a different place.
And unit variety actually means unit variety (witch each unit functioning in a different role and performing differently in battle rather than a direct upgrade)

The biggest ick for me is the damn combat, it just is button spam with no real strategy, Oh you are getting shot? then just press the shieldwall button even though your units are 25m apart in a scattered formation, dont worry you still get 50% missle block chance after 3 seconds. its just annoying and boring. but i still would recomend it if you want to get into total war, as it sort of has a morale system.
