INTRO
I just want to start this off by saying that this review is based off of my personal experience playing this game thus far. From what iv'e played over my 55 hrs with the game has been nothing but positive. I have really enjoyed my time with this game till the point of it being one of my favorite games iv'e EVER played.

STORY (NO SPOILERS)
The journey this game sets up for you as the player is exceptional. Some people have stated that the story is pretty bad and the missions can be quite boring. However, in my opinion that's just not true. The Story missions themselves at the start are just meant to get you used to the way a typical dragons dogma game plays. For example you are set off to go to different locations in order to kill some monsters, pretty basic right? Well you head over to the first location and all of the sudden are jumped by a huge ogre. That is one of the MANY ways that your experience will be different than others. I have completed the game and am now about 4 hrs into a new play through and i have already had a very different experience. How i view the story is not just the main missions that you have to complete, but the journey to get to those missions is the main part of your story. Getting attacked by a dragon and winning for the first time, exploring hidden caves, going to far off lands and picking up a few side quests that all vary and are not the same, or maybe you just chill at one of the villages or city's for a day and just look around and explore, maybe you spend some time at the tavern and buy everyone a round of drinks are all things that will make up your story and that's what the game intended. Therefore i believe the story will be different for everyone and that's what makes this game special.

GAME-PLAY
Dragons Dogma 2 has some of the best combat i have ever played in an RPG. There is a wide assortment of classes/vocations that all hold their own style of play. The warrior vocation (my personal favorite) is a slower swinging yet high damage class that can kill bosses very quickly if you can land your heavy attacks, however other classes like the thief that use swift daggers can also do great damage using a variety of ability's to outmaneuver and outsmart your target. Every time you switch vocations its like your playing a whole new game, and that leads into the great amount of replay-ability of the game. Now to get into something a little different i will talk about the travel system. You will be spending many of your early hours walking between points of interest like villages or special landmarks. This can be a very engaging experience based off of what you will encounter. You can also use a semi-fast travel system via ox cart which will take you to your desired location at a few expenses. first and foremost all ox carts have a single location that they travel between, so if i want to go to a certain city you might have to ride an oxcart to one village to ride another ox cart to your desired city if that makes sense. From the times that I have used the ox cart i had been attacked by a griffin that would keep flying down and destroying the cart. However i killed the beast which lead to me being able to have a smooth ride once i did the trip again. In my opinion it is better to walk to locations so you don't attract larger beasts like the griffin when you don't want to fight them. To quickly touch up on some things, there is fast travel. While others stay complaining about the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ micro transaction that allows you to get fast travel materials, I have not cared as they can be obtained from playing the game. I have around 5 fast travel points that i have placed and i don't need anymore because I usually walk anyways. In general i believe the game play alone is one of the key selling points. (Just a quick note that I have played the entire game on a Xbox one controller)

PERFORMANCE
While in my own personal experience i haven't had any major performance issues except from the occasional frame drop when entering a large city. However i have heard that others have had different experiences with performance. I have played this game on a MSI Raider GE76 which is a laptop and have had no problem. I cant say that your performance will be as good as mine but what I can say is that recent patches have seemed to help greatly for me and they might help you as well. My frame rate has been at mostly 70-80 fps during my playtime but dropping when entering largely populated city's to around 40-60 fps which is noticeable. But I don't believe this fps drop is a game ruining thing at all. Like i said before this might vary on your personal setup. Also there will 100% be more patches in the future that will help improve performance.

BAD STUFF
When making this review i knew i would have to cover some things that i don't like myself. First off, the micro-transactions suck (literally) because they don't do anything special to your game experience except for a easy way to get fast travel materials(doesn't matter). They do suck nonetheless and I pray that future game company's give this ♥♥♥♥ up. Now onto the real stuff that could be better. When traveling through the dense forests, plains and more you will encounter enemies about every 20 seconds if you sprint. This sucks in general because it makes the game less immersive in my opinion because it feels like a typical game. But if you have the patience you can do what i do and actually WALK from place to place like you would in real life. this not only helps create a longer gap between fights but also it helps with immersion. My last "con" that I have is that in the beginning it will feel kinda like you are going back and forth between only a few locations which can get repetitive, but after a few hours you will start to branch out and go to new locations (you can also just explore immediately if you don't stick to main quests). These "cons" can lead to annoyance at times but in no way ruin the game.

CONCLUSION/RATING
In conclusion this game is nothing less than incredible. It has its ups and downs and some people may feel differently as they have different experiences than I. But i can stop playing this game even after getting the "TRUE ENDING". With a new start to my second play-through with the Beastren race, I am excited to do it all again and find new secrets, more encounters, find new people, and face new challenges.
