Really good game for "boomer-shooter" seekers, I think that's a no brainer. Music and sound is great, really helps to build already thick atmosphere. Very fast movement speed and combat, good challenge for those who want it. Of course, there's also room for exploration, but I don't see that as a focus. Art style might seem old, but it's well explored and I like it.

The game has beautiful, while gritty, art stile. Each zone has it's own colour pallet - yellow and green, white and grey, green and blue, etc. Music sold the atmosphere of every level I traversed and it was all around great - my fave' is OP soundtrack.
There are some GIT GUD moments, but you will need to push through to proceed and don't be afraid to leave and try again later when you are stronger. Needless to say, since it's metroidvania, lots of platforming, movement freedom (and necessity), combat is very movement based - don't stand in one spot all the time! You might get lost in these labyrinths of a levels, so I recommend finding the map as soon as you can.
Best platformer I played, since it's the only one, but it was great
