I truly love this game. After playing fairly consistently for about 2 and a half years now, I can easily say that FFXIV is my favorite game of all time. The story is engaging, the characters are wonderful, and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ do I love being a glamour ♥♥♥♥♥. I absolutely love playing melee classes in this game, Dragoon more than the rest for sure. Granted though, I'm a bit biased because I love Kain from FFIV.

Aside from being addicted to glamour though, I really enjoy the raid content, the trials, as well as crafting and gathering. Especially alliance raids, I'm a huge fan of the environments. Leveling is honestly the only slog in my opinion. To be fair though, it's a MMO, so that's not surprising. Although, that's where the story does come in. Leveling might be boring, but I was too invested in what was going on in the world to care.

I've played numerous MMOs before FFXIV, but I don't think any of them match up to the quality that FFXIV delivers. God ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bless this game. I highly recommend everyone at least tries it out. You can download the free trial to start, which lets you get up to level 35 on all the base game classes.

EDIT (12/25/2019): A little over a year later, and with the addition of Shadowbringers now, this game is even more so one of the best games I have ever played. Can't wait to see what the next story patch brings. You're doing yourself a disservice not playing it!

2ND EDIT (08/11/2020): With the release of patch 5.3, the free trial now goes all the way through Heavensward up to level 60!
