I was almost max Mastery level back in the day. Then everything started becoming more and more pay to win. Can't say I didn't enjoy the game when I played tho.

I'll start by saying this game has a lot of potential and I quite enjoyed many parts of it. However, there were many points where I felt like I was lacking crucial information. To start off, I played my whole first play through without knowing that light houses increase how many resources drop in their radius. This would have sped up my progress sooo much and would have made the game way less grindy. Although, I did not know of this as it is not stated ANYWHERE. I got to the point where the whole map was filled with landfill before I realized this by watching a video. This led to hours of grinding to get the final tool to pick up the landfill to be able to place the lighthouses. The next thing I'd like to talk about is the fact that a farming mode was advertised as coming soon. I was sooo excited for this I was hoping for a big farming update that would actually make it worth doing and a whole gamemode based around those mechanics, but I was sadly let down. Instead, we get a speed run mode and a speed run on one island mode. Starting the one island mode I didn't even know it was supposed to be as speed run to get on the leader board until I found a forum post saying it was. I planned on making landfill growing my one island and having a single biome world. Yet again, I was met with disappointment as three hours in I found out you can't even make landfill. Three hours in and I didn't know it was a speed run or that I really limited to this island and couldn't expand. On top of that what am I speed running to? Max level? There is no real win condition of the game so I wasn't even sure. This is until I left the game and found my answer on another forum post. Why do I need to find these things out on forum posts instead of in the game. Going back to my first playthrough in the normal gamemode. I didn't know shrines cost increased for each new one you build. Wow can you believe it? I didn't know a fairly important mechanic in the game till it was too late and found out in a forum post. I was replacing them as the cooldown resets. The scaling cost was of course to stop this mechanic, however I did not realize this till it was too late and each shrine costed so much grinding to get it wasn't even worth it anymore. I will still recommend this game as I don't want it to die and no longer receive updates that could fix these major annoyances. All I would have needed for a much more enjoyable playthrough would be a (scaling cost) on shrines and (increase resource loot) on lighthouses.
