Been playing this game on and off since the initial launch day, and while I do highly recommend this game due to it's fun blend of stealth, 3rd person combat and the general style there are a few issues I think need to be addressed in some way shape or form.

1. The progression of the game is tied to your currency. A problem you've probably run into while playing the game. For those who haven't; you need to pay grymite to actually go back to a level if you were to die. Generally not a horrible decision until you realize you make barely enough grymite in one full runthrough to go to any later floors once. So if you get stuck on a boss or just a hard level you potentially have to play the layer or even the layer before that enough to actually get another attempt. Slows the pace of the game down a ton and is generally not that fun. I think the best decision to rectify this while still keeping the mechanic is making it so you have to pay per layer, not sublevel. So you pay a general fee and you are able to go to any sublevel within that layer. Maybe in increments of 400 but that would need to be tested first.

2. The consumables don't feel rewarding to use. Besides the shock darts and occasional tear module the rest of the items feel very bland, feel bad to use or just don't mesh well into both gameplay styles. I think every consumable should have a purpose in both the stealth and combat. Maybe you could directly hit somebody with a soundmaker and stun them temporarily. Maybe the concussion grenades could make a stationary guard go into roaming mode as if they're looking for the source. That sort of thing.

3. The armor doesn't really make a difference/actively hinders you sometimes. There's some outliers to this sure, like the gauntlets that makes the stun gun lean more into it's offensive uses. But other then that and a few other pieces of armor, nothing feels like it changes the way you play or engage in any substantial way, and if anything they're actively hindering you by adding more weight among other potential problems. Let's take the grymite gauntlets as an example. There is already issues with grymite running too sparse at times, and so you make an item where you have to spend 70+ grymite everytime you swing for a measly 1.3x damage in a single punch. That is abhorrently flawed and I'm sure you can see why. This is a bit more of an egregious thing to fix since there's quite a bit of armor, but I think just a few tweaks to some items could be all they need to actually change your game and provide reasons to take them in besides armor points. Again, going off the grymite gauntlets, how about instead of spending money everytime you punch, you lose a bigger sum of money everytime you miss or the attack is blocked. Would give more of incentive to use it while also hindering you if played wrong. Things like that could be absolute game changers, and I wish we'd see more game changing equipment, even if it's small (also remove the items that reduce your max hp because unless you're planning on walking off a deep ledge later today nobody in their right mind would use them.)

Those are some of the big problems I've had with the game so far, and as much as I've complained it's only a $20 game. You get so much fun with that price tag that I would still say it's worth it. With that being said however, I do hope some of the things I've said here are addressed as I think they could turn this already awesome game into something truly special.

Doom Eternal is more then just a game in my opinion. It's the perfection of an artform. The movement is just like 2016, but even better. The battle's are fun and exciting. The story is optional, but if you take the time to look through all the lore pieces there is a great story being told. ID really outdid themselves with this one, and I think that everyone can safely agree that this game, no, art piece, was worth the wait.
