Bought this game sorely for co-op, patiently waited, turned out co-op is a mess.

It's a good game but not as good as their old games.

I'm supporting the devs by owning both mobile paid contents and this version (and their other games). Bug heroes 1 used to be my favorite game on iphone 4 when I was little, Bug heroes 2 used to be my only game that I thought worth playing on mobile when I was in high school. I do think the devs should go fully on Steam, the mobile market is sadly ruining their game vision day by day.

Really, they made amazing games but focus in a wrong platform, with wrong audience, and only considering Steam after mobile markets. Now even they changed a lot of paid contents for Steam version, you can still feel the unpleasant mobile interactions and overall game designs, and that may caused them to lose Steam players as people really don't like those type of games here.

Please, less grinding, more content, more unique surprises, better PC control, co-op, better marketing materials that shows the hook and uniqueness of your game for PC players. If you check what's popular in first 100 games on Steam you know why this game is here, unfortunately

This game makes you feel like you are part of this world as a powerful wizard.

Surprisingly, this game isn't as popular as it should be. I enjoy this one more than Age of Wonders 4 for its well-written stories, a huge amount of interesting random events, RPG elements, reasonable army sizes (the biggest thing Age of Wonders failed for me is the tedious task of managing too many armies each turn in late games), and amazing crafting system (one of the best crafting system over the years).

Only two things bother me really: 1. there's a serious bug that prevents you from doing anything in the late game and you have to reload to keep going, and it's still there one year later after the DLC release. 2. There are no mods to play with like AOW 4, I think modding saved that game long-term and kept the community engaged

I mean, this game shines mostly because of the dark humour and animation team behind it. They have put so much love into this game that even this is a tv series it can still win game awards without problems.

Therefore the game design is what I would call 'contradictory phenomenon' mechanics. I just don't get it, why do devs nowadays can get away with copying 'rogue like' mechanics without understanding their actual design purposes.

People like games not because the games are hard, they enjoy them because they feel rewarded. It doesn't have to be powerful items, but the rewards have to match the efforts that players put into to stimulate their dopamine releases. Too little rewards a game can become a torture. Imagine Elden Ring (another bad sample) without healing available, and you lose everything when you die including all your items. That's basically this game, a combination of 'rogue like' and 'soul like' genre where you are the death itself but get one hit killed by other creations of yours.

Now let's talk about the 'contradictory phenomenon‘ part of the game design:

Everything is randomised, so you have to depending on your luck at extreme. You unlocked a weapon that you fall in love with, but RNG god decided to not allowing you see her ever again. This makes you wonder if you should unlock weapons at first place. Maybe only unlock the strongest one and thus you can find it more often.

They put healing in this game but the way you get it may cause you lose even more health.

The curse system provides you with choices where negatives overcome the positives, sometimes makes you want completely ignore this part of the game.

The elevator can take you to 1 of the 3 places per floor, your choice. But there's a high chance where you get absolutely nothing other than souls, and join the boss fight with your 'noob starter pack'. Why not make each floor longer enough so players can get something at least. Why does some 'floors' are just a room that can be put into any floor.

I know there's one magic that can carry you through levels like a boss, while most other stuff are too weak to even bother. You are an unstoppable killing machine, or a destined loser.

Why do I enjoy the animation way more than the game play in a game.

This is also the first game in a while that I found to focus in combat but encourages you to avoid combat so you don't get punished that much.

I really want to like this game, and I really did for the first three runs. Hope their game designers can match the level of their animators. It's a game after all.

You probably heard positive things about the game, when it comes to negatives, it's as impressive as the good ones.

The game has many good stuff like brilliant monster art & animation designs, huge map to explore. But it's also the most badly optimised game I played during the years. Basically every time when you are hit or hitting anything you get a stuttering and drops the frame rate from 60 to 20, and thanks to the ever spinning camera after 30 minutes play you will get nausea, seriously who ever tweaked the camera setting may never done this job before (and there's nothing you can do about it, this game is a spinning simulator).

The UI design is a disaster, despite it's chaotic overlay, hours later you still have no idea about the functionality of your skills, duration or it's dmg without checking wiki notes, and you will likely never understand things you obtained allow your journey. During combat you found yourself switching items with pain.

Online coop, If you want gather your friends and spend your weekends with them in this game, please choose something else. Because you make no story line progression and successful summoning requires patience and luck. We spent 1/2 of our time trying to stay the same progression till everyone just prefer to play themselves.

Poorly balanced items. I swear there's a heavy plate helmet that only has 2% more physical res comparing to a starting clothed hood (it must be a soft form made plate helmet). So, the choice of wearing full set heavy armour has already being taken away when it's only 6% harder then rags but slows you down like wearing a fridge. Whoever still wants to wear them, good luck to you. There's also broken items that makes the game easy mode, overall the QA team must been salary thieves for years.

Guess I won't recommend the game till it's fixed & balanced. Might change my review when modders save the world.

It's boring for most of the time but still got a base building and RPG element, until some random 200+ lv idiot who doesn't suffer 300+ lag break into your well decorated house and destroy everything, then chase you for the kill for hours.

Fight back you say while he just teleports to random position every half second and able to one shot me. I died too many times until all my currency around 5000 gone, taken by him (-50 for each kill), my power armour completely broken, which took me a week to built, and not even killed him for once.

Now, unless I got a chance to kill someone 100 times to make it up (which I know won't happen), I don't think there's a point to open fallout again, with the broken power armour you know could take you another week, and 0 possibility to defend yourself from other high level players.
