Gripping Sci-Fi adventure courtesy of the DOOM Engine.

First of all, THANK YOU ARKANE FOR ADDING STEAM CONTROLLER SUPPORT!!!

What else can I say about this game other than it is absolutely a joy to play. Imagine the smooth and striking DOOM Engine powering an incredible SCI-FI adventure on a futuristic Space Station. It sounds like a match made in heaven, and it is.

The Graphics are so crisp and beautiful that they make my eyes water. I am currently running a 980Ti in Linux Ubuntu with Proton and I am getting a steady 60-80fps in 1440P with most settings cranked.
The lighting, shadows, reflections, and textures are simply perfect. I feel like I could reach in my screen and grab something, thats how tangible everything looks.

The Space Station itself is amazing in design. They literally must have built a working space station on their computers, and then added a lone protagonist and a Sh*t ton of paranoia-inducing creatures. The sublime design of Talos 1 cannot be described, you have to see it to believe it.

The enemies themselves are a unique design in the way they move, interact with environments, and just the sheer size of some of the enemies is frightening (Nightmare for example is the size of a 2 story house but moves as fast as a gazelle.)
I love how the enemies 'Shift' dimensions to cover space. It's as lovely as it is terrifying.

Gun-Play is right on par with DOOM. That isnt to say you get some massive BFG to go fragging enemies, oh no. Quite the opposite. The guns and weapons you get are something you would probably find on a massive space station. Pistols, shotguns, and the GLOO gun make up the early arsenal. The GLOO gun itself is an interesting concept - shoot blobs of foam that trap enemies or you can use to protect yourself from fire, or build a platform with GLOO to reach a higher object.
Eventually you get some cool lazer guns and such, but overall the guns arent nearly as omnipotent as in DOOM, but it fits Prey perfectly. You definitely get the feeling that every encounter with the enemy could be your last if you get complacent.
Luckily along the line you get to start learning Typhon skills which can be leveled up in a Skill Tree. There are lots of skills to help you reach your objectives. You can Mimic items around you if you want to go the stealth route, or use mind control to raise an army, or just flat out use some psychic shock powers to level your enemies. There is lots of paths to level up your skills.

Saving the best for last, now we can talk about the Story. Overall, its a wonderful tale about betrayal, perseverance, and a whole lot of plot switches. There is not a lot of cut scenes to jar you out of the moment. A lot of the story is gleaned by talking to survivors and hacking emails. I wont ruin the story for you fine folks, but let me tell you, I purposely go through everyone's emails to find interesting stories and clues of everyone's personal experience during the crisis. All of these details combined makes Talos 1 feel like a living breathing Space Station.

Initially I couldn't get into this game when I first grabbed it. I picked it up almost a year later and I am kicking myself for denying myself such a wonderful experience. This game is almost perfect.
