Normally you won't have an API key, and if you don't know what they're used for or how they work, you most likely shouldn't have one on your account.

It's just another method people use for scams to gain access to your account. Here is a decent breakdown from a cs:go subreddit.

Some bots/scammers are impersonating me apparently. This is a genuine account that's not a scammer bot or fake account. I'll leave my inventory public and everything public so you can see and compare total play times, badges, products, and inventory items.

I will not message you links out of the blue nor ask for trading since i do not trade. I currently have 75 games, about 1k+ hours clocked into several games, and have 230 friends. Current badge Lvl is 42 and have a unique set of items displayed that are hard to copy or at least very expensive for some measly 2 bit scammer to try to immitate.

If another account does not have this, assume that i am not that person and you should block the person or report them if they're trying to scam you.

You'll mostly find me playing KF2 TF2 or DF2 so that's another huge indicator.
