The java community has collective brain damage. This is best expressed in the standard library where something as simple as creating and initializing a list feels like heavy manual labor in 90 degree weather. How about reading input from the command line? Here's 7 different ways and the conflicting documentation to go along with it. How about the File and Path classes? Guess which one you use to traverse a file system? Guess which one you use to read a file's content? BZZZT! Wrong! Doesn't even matter what you guessed, you're wrong. The absolute worst are varhandles. Here's the documentation, go ahead. Read it. I dare you. Now can you tell me what varhandles are for? If I put a gun to your AbstractFamilyFactory's head, would you be able to use one? If you say yes, you're lying.

Here's the deal though, I like Java. The tooling is amazing and the modern language features are quite nice. Debugging is trivial in Java and makes troubleshooting in other languages painful by comparison. Dependency management and deployments are a breeze (seriously, ♥♥♥♥ python local env). But for some unknown reason, java engineers feel like they have to get their class and method names from an epileptic with a ouji board, and they think they don't get paid if it takes less than 9 words to call a method. I have never seen a community so dedicated to making their own lives so difficult.

you see, two years ago i was not only straight but homophobic. about that time i began to use unreal engine 4 to make a game (it uses C++ but in the form of nodes). after becoming skilled in the language i began to notice something odd. i was no longer violently homophobic. I assumed i had become more mature and put it off. As i began to fully understand the interacies of the c++ programming language,i was eventually bothered by gender disphoria in my personal life. this clearly proves that C++ is a form of a potent,real life cognitohazard. I will post this here to warn all those who will listen. DO NOT use c++. you sacrifice your straightness for efficiency.
