The game plays like one of those old web games running on shockwave, but does worse in performance.
I don't have the best machine, but it should be able to run this thing without lag, yet I get stutters at random, even for just standing in a field post combat. Nothing in the game is polished, the AI sometimes forgets what it was doing, othertimes you aggro the whole map. The maps are limited and repetitive.

The visuals do a good job of bringing a bit of nostalgia. The item system and inventory is solid. There is a progression system, but the game's not very clear on how it works, you sort of just go through it and see what happens at the end.
The magic system in this is great, it's the saving grace of the game. You are free to modify the spells you find on your adventure. The story generation in this game is done well, but the options you are provided are not clear with the results.

The game doesn't seem to support non English keyboard inputs, which is annoying but not a serious issue.

Overall, if I got the game at full price I'd be upset, but I got it for 75% off and at that price I can't even be mad. I'm keeping this. There's definitely fun to be had with this one, if you have the patience for its flaws.
