I'm only a few hours in, but so far this is giving me a fix for that SNES era JRPG nostalgia that I did not know I needed.
It feels just like the great games of that era, with some added modern quality of life touches here and there.
The fact that it's made by a solo dev (from what I can tell) makes it even more impressive. The native Linux build works flawlessly.

Edit: Changing this to a negative review after playing more. I do not at all enjoy the way the game forces you to play. It feels more like a puzzle game than a traditional JRPG.
For one you cannot grind to get the upper hand, or try different tactics, so all the battles feel like they have a set way to win. Apart from when RNG makes all the enemies kill your healer in the first turn.

Certain skills don't appear to work at all, Decoy to get aggro for instance. Pretty much every battle is about keeping your health and defense maxed out at all times while *slowly* whittling down the enemies health with your toothpicks.

I am not sure I will come back to finish this, looks like there's way too much left for me to tolerate the frustration.
