If you liked games like Gone Home or What Remains of Edith Finch, this game is going to be right up your alley. That said, if you had a choice between playing this game or Gone Home or What Remains of Edith Finch, I would go and pick one of the other two games.

GAMEPLAY

One of my biggest issues with this game, in terms of gameplay, was the head-bobbing function that cannot be disabled. I get motion-sick. I got very motion-sick playing this game. If you get motion-sick, do not play this game because the story does not justify the four hours of wanting to puke your guts out. Most games that have this have a way for you to turn it off, or to mitigate the effect of it in other ways--this game does not. The best I could do was turn it to a lower resolution and window it, so I could focus on the still edge of the frame. Overall, however, this meant that I couldn't just go and explore the world, because it made me feel too sick.

STORY

The story was good up until the end. Both Irving and Nicole are well characterized, and the story works as a whole until the end. Nicole is characterized as being strong-willed, stubborn, and has no indicators of depression until literally the last fifteen minutes of gameplay--the end of the game is blatantly unbelievable from the story and character perspective.

Overall, would recommend playing if you don't get motion-sick and enjoy other story-based games like Gone Home and What Remains of Edith Finch,

The word I would use to describe this game is "haunting".

At the time I played the game, it was an interesting narrative game which was, frankly, fairly quickly completed. It was good, very much in the style of other narrative games such as Gone Home. However, I didn't really expect to still be thinking about this game months later, and yet, I am.

This is a good otome game, and a good introduction to most stat-raising games. In general I do find stat-raising games to be rather troublesome, but this game made up for it with a decent plot aside from romancing the boys and with Nicole's personality. I very much appreciated the fact that, unlike a lot of other otome games, Nicole is a distinct, interesting character on her own.

However, I second the other reviewer in saying that I wish there was an option for a good ending where Nicole solves the mystery herself AND saves herself.

This game is fantastic, and if you are an otome fan, an absolute must-have,

Being entirely new to the Amnesia franchise, I had no idea what to expect in each of the routes. And in some ways, that is the best way to experience this game; by having absolutely no idea what's going on (just like the heroine!) and needing more dialogue options (including, most importantly, a "stop lying to me!" dialogue option).

10/10 would die again (and again, and again, and again).

Whether or not you enjoy this game is largely about your expectations going into the game. I had read a number of reviews before I played it, which meant I had a good idea of what I was getting into, prior to deciding to try it. Simply put, this is a first person exploration game - you arrive home after a year abroad. Your parents and sibling have disappeared and you are wandering around your empty house trying to find out what happened to them. There is no combat. Nothing is going to try to murder you (probably). You walk around and you try to figure out where your family went, based on the clues they have left all over your house. Full playtime is only about two or three hours for your first time through.

If all of that is all right with you, the game provides some really excellent nostalgia for the 90s, a great atmosphere and several engaging storylines.
