The game provides industry-defining use of virtual reality in order to convey a compelling narrative. The physics engine works excellently with the player's hands, barring minimal gripes. While understandable, the game's continuous locomotion leaves a bit to be desired, as I often found myself falling off ledges with even a slight shifting of my head. Additionally, while it's wonderful that the game enables the player to choose which hand holds the gun, I felt that as a left-handed person (meaning my right hand was free for the entire game), most of the doors in the game favor interaction with a free left hand (again, understandable, and this has virtually no practical implications). Combat sequences, though, mostly accommodate both left and right peeking- where it matters the most.

The visual components of HL: Alyx are absolutely stunning, and some vistas, in combination with the score, are almost worth the price of admission alone. That said, the soundtrack for the game seems just a notch lower in quality than the pieces from Kelly Bailey in the past, but the sound effects are excellent (and this is highly subjective).

Overall: excellent, despite what I would call "minor necessary evils"; definitely worth your time and money.
