A little late to the party - grabbed this game on sale. Idk I really enjoyed it. If you are into exploration/sandbox type games then you will probably enjoy this as well

Finished my first game in something like 59h. I know that speedrunners can do it in like 30min but I would recommend just taking it easy as every aspect of this game can be absolutely enjoyed withour rushing anything. To keep spoilers minimal, you technically are not forced to do most of the things the game offers - so just go with the flow and do whatever you feel like!

I didn't really follow any guides as the game sort of gives hints as you progress. Base building was awesome - even though glitchy at times. Biomes were interesting, story was pretty good, exploration was fun even if scary at times. Got a little bored towards the end but mostly because I always forgot to grab some biome specific resource and had to travel back-and-forth just because. Other than that the end credits and story conclusion felt like a nice achievement - like a job well done and the feeling you accomplished something great.

Really addictive and fun game to immerse yourself into. Developer is a nice guy and really cares about this game and its feedback. The money is well worth it and this is one of the few games I would really recommend NOT buying on a sale just because it is that great and underpriced compared to other stuff out there. I think I spent around 100 hours until got bored and came back a year or two later only to get hooked in the same run because I wanted to get all of the achievements.

Gameplay has much to offer and you can find what better suits your playstyle the most not really needing the other activities to "win" or move forward since there isn't a deadline for any of the things you can potentially do - the Grandpa evaluation can happen even if you missed some points before end of Year 2 any time you want for a small price. So you aren't really forced to do anything - you can always grow the plants you missed the next year, catch the fish you missed another season or complete the bundles any other season by waiting next crop growing cycle or straight up buying the stuff you need from any of the merchants scattered around the Valley or occasionally recieving gifts from the other NPCs.

On the other hand if you are a more hardcore gamer you can always min-max what you grow and do each day or season. Most of the tedious stuff like completing Community center bundles you can avoid by paying coins. You can also change your skills, appearance, even married NPCs for a price so you can change your playstyle in the same run any time you want and not worry about the consequences about some of the decisions you might have chosen.

There's also an active modding community to spice up things after your first run or two which is great.

Early Access Review
This game made me feel like picking a fight with a tough Russian mobster armed with a sledgehammer and an AK-47 while me and 3 other guys are tied naked to a pole, penis stuck in a hydraulic press

Base game:
Loved the game ever since it came out. Allthough I can totally understand why many people don't ike the newly added changes and content I can't help myself to disagree. This game was becoming stale and desperately needed some air. Sure you could mod the hell out of it but in that case it is basically allready a different game. 9/10 would recommend
DLC's:
However, so called "DLC's" how Paradox likes to call them are mostly minor changes or added content that you can live without, at the very least for the first playthroughs until you get a jist of the game. Then it's up to you. I would wait for a sale since I strongly believe the price tag is not worth the value these expansions add. 6/10 would recommend
