Tokyo Incidents? Shiina Ringo? Nandesuka?
WHAT IS TOKYO INCIDENTS
On May 29, 2004, after announcing that Shiina Ringo would be ceasing to release solo music anymore, it was revealed that she would in turn become the leading vocalist of a band she had formulated, called Tokyo Jihen. The band consisted of five members: herself, bassist Kameda Seiji (who previously worked a lot in arranging music in Shiina's solo career), drummer Hata Toshiki (who had similarly worked with Shiina as a live session drummer), guitarist Hirama Mikio and the pianist for the band PE'Z, Hiizumi Masayuki (who went under the stage names "H Zeddo M" and "HZM" during Tokyo Jihen). These band members were previously the band for Shiina's last live tour, her Sugoroku Ecstasy Tour (in fact, you are able to see the members play during Shiina's Electric Mole DVD concert).

Tokyo Jihen (東京事変) or the 'Tokyo Incidents' is a Japanese band formed and fronted by the popular rock singer 椎名林檎 (Ringo Shiina). As hinted by its name, the band has a running theme modeled on '60s Japanese pulp fiction. The band debuted in September 2004 with the song 群青日和. Since their inception, Tokyo Jihen has released six studio albums, of which three peaked at number 1 on the Oricon charts.

Shiina had always wished to work with a band, and selected its members while working on her third solo album, 加爾基 精液 栗ノ花. The band, comprised of guitarist ヒラマミキオ (Mikio Hirama), PE'Z keyboardist H ZETT M, drummer 畑利樹 (Toshiki Hata), and music producer 亀田誠治 (Seiji Kameda) as bassist, was first introduced as Tokyo Jihen during Shiina's Sugoroku Ecstasy tour. Being part of a band allowed Shiina to both share the songwriting process as well as tone down her public image.

In July 2005, H ZETT M and Hirama left the band. H ZETT M returned to his duties as pianist for PE'Z and Hirama returned to his solo career. Two months later, あっぱ pianist and vocalist 伊澤一葉 (Ichiyo Izawa) and 浮雲 (Ukigumo) joined Tokyo Jihen as the replacement keyboardist and guitarist, respectively.

On January 11th 2012 Shiina Ringo announced the band's breakup on their official website.

January 1st, 2020,marks a new beginning for the band since Tokyo Jihen released a surprise digital single, "Erabarezaru Kokumin", and announced a tour of Japan titled "Live Tour 2020 News Flash", beginning February 29. In February, the band announced their 5-song EP News would be released on April 8, 2020. WHO IS SHIINA RINGO
Shiina Ringo, whose real name is Shiina Yumiko, was born in 福岡 in 1978. She studied piano since she was a child, laying a good foundation for her musical journey. In high school, she was a rebellious character. She often ran out of school and played in bands with others. She had served as drummer, guitarist, keyboard player and lead vocalist, and dreamed of performing everywhere. Unlike many other Japanese girls, she was not obsessed with Japanese star idols at the time, but PUNK and GRUNGEROCK. These all have a great degree on her future music style
Influence: Contradictory lyrics, morbid and hysterical singing, depraved and masochistic performance art on MTV.

She participated in many singing competitions, but lost all of them, but her unique image was taken care of by EMI Records, and after signing the contract, she established the Shinjuku Department as a self-produced studio. In May 1998, the debut single "Happiness Theory" was released. With his unique musical style and vocals, bold looks (wearing a kimono, holding a guitar, rolling his eyes and singing), and straightforward lyrics, Ringo Shiina quickly took a whirlwind against mainstream music in Japan. Then released the album "Repayment of Innocence", which was praised as the class tyrant of the Shinjuku Department, with a strong style and a high level of evaluation by underground music magazines. During this period, Shiina wrote the champion song "CAP-PUCCINO" for his friend Tomosaka Rie, and he was full of musical talent.

In 1999, the album "Win the Case STRIP", which sold more than 2 million copies, was one of a kind in the Japanese rock industry. The album's unmodified noise guitar, especially the "Shiina Ringo-style" rock style formed by electronic beats and strings, the music's arrangement is very undulating, coupled with high-pitched and distorted vocals, it is really hard to imagine a With such a beautiful face able to sing such a twisted voice.

The performance of this sexy woman with a mole on the corner of her mouth on MTV is a great satire on Japan's sick society and culture. In "Defense DEBUSSY", she is a dancer wearing a gas mask; in "Instinct", she puts on a nurse's uniform, smashes glass with punches and kicks, and licks female patients with her tongue; she is dragged around by galloping horses , still serving with a smile; she wraps herself in twine... all by the 22-year-old woman's own "design".

In 1999, Shiina and her band participated in several performances, among which "RISING SUN FESTIVAL" was a performance that fans talked about. Shiina Ringo's storm hits Hikaru Utada. A concert called "Shiina
