You need to grind in this game. There's no avoiding that fact, so if you're one who dislikes the repetition of going to the same dungeons (or lairs) which are almost identical again and again, you most probably will not like this game.

However, if you can put that aside, it is actually quite fun. The colours are vibrant, the designs amazing, the weapons customizable, your house movable. It allows for a lot of creative potential. Think Minecraft with Diablo. The creative aspect of building (Minecraft) does not at all interfere with the hack and slash nature of the fighting (Diablo). In fact, they complement each other well when levelling up and progressing.

However, with the pros of both Minecraft and Diablo, it has the cons of both. There is no story, and the dungeons begin to repat itself very quickly. You might find yourself trapped in limbo where you are too strong for Uber 2, but too weak for Uber 3. This is where grinding takes place.

To counter that, friends really help. Get a group of your friends and go hunting, it is really very fun in that aspect. Personally, I think Trove is great for solo play to a certain extent. I don't detest the grinding, but I really think that there should be something else for people to get stronger without the continuous repetition. With friends, it really shines.
