This game is a great beta or early access in it's current state, but it's been flagged as released. It's not really 1.0 compared to what you should expect in a game of this Genre. Most of the systems are functional, but they are all very very shallow.

The character creator is something truly unique to this entry in the genre. So many options. The problem? That's about as far as it goes. There are some dialog options that change a bit, such as Naga talking about having no legs, but 99% of the game plays no different then playing any random human in overalls.

The romance system exists, but again is very shallow. You get some gifts for romancing characters up to a certain point, but you could play it entirely as any progression bar system and date everyone and get all the rewards and suffer no consequences for doing so.

There are barnyard animals. Most entries in this genre will have you start with the animals and take significant time for their upkeep until you unlock more quality of life advantages to free up your time. Here the animals are easier to individually manage than a single crop. Throw them in the barn, add an auto-feed and auto-harvest, talk to them a bunch of times when they first arrive to get their hearts up to max the first day, and then basically ignore them and collect your rent for them living in your barn.

All in all, what is here is a great foundation. If this was an early entry into the genre it would be great. It just doesn't stand up to the hype when you look past the surface and realize there just isn't enough depth here.

Edit: The developer started properly referring to the game as a hack and slash instead of a deckbuilder, which was the main reason for my negative review. As such, I've changed to a positive review. The rest of the original review remains below unchanged:

A fun spin on the ARPG genre with unique gameplay and art. Subtle callbacks honoring the origins of the genere are a nice touch.

However, the one thing it is defintely not is a deckbulding game. You collect "cards", but the cards might as well be equipment or spellbook pages. You can slot these cards at will in a limited number of slots. However, there is no deck you are drawing these cards from so it's not in any way a "deck-building hybrid" as stated in the description the way most people would understand that to mean. The game is all action, and those that look for cardgames for their relaxed pace are going to be very disappointed as they frantically excersize their mouse skills.

I don't know why the developer decided to call their awesome not-deckbuing game a deckbuilding game, and if they removed that label I would be reccomending this in a heartbeat. As is, I can't support the deceptive description.

This game feels like a console port that released to PC first. The load times are terrible. The controls are clearly optimized for the console release. It's certainly not worth the $40 dollar price tag. Wait for a sale if you really want to check this one out.
