I am updating my review and switching from positive to negative due to the high volume and frequency of game-breaking bugs.

It is a fun game, but the sense of achievement you get from unlocking some new weapon or power is undermined by the number of ways those items (or the game) can break. There are just too many and too frequent game-breaking bugs to give a good review.

Some recent examples: Mech walkers can get deployed up trees, literally out of reach and non-functional. You can't destroy the trees with fire or explosives, and if you try an orbital, your mech is destroyed with the tree.

The shuttle that evacs you at the end of the mission can frequently bug and clip through the terrain; leaving your squad to unsuccessfully evac. That means all of those dozens of samples you painstakingly collected are now lost.

Rescue missions can have civilians glitch out where they do not run to the safety point, and will get stuck until they die (in which case the mission penalizes you by deducting in-game currency) or you never finish the main objective and fail the entire misison.

The devs really need to fix the bugs before pumping out new content. I'd be ok with 1 or 2 bugs every now and then, but the frequency is so high. 40% of the games I play have some major bug that renders an objective or tool obsolete, and over 20% of the time the bugs are so severe they break the whole mission, causing a fail.

For a game that is designed to keep players playing, this is going to erode away the player base as it feels so bad to get a fail after 40 minutes of collecting samples and completing side missions, all because of a bug.

This game has a fun style, great music, and overall aesthetic. The game-play is interesting and the interactions between trying to maximize viewers/profits while also trying to please lobbyists, advertisers, and avoid scandals/the mob means that you're not always simply playing dominant strategy. Each week is a new challenge filled with new and interesting objectives, and its a race to get the best scoop before you have to ROLL THE PRESSES! Really fun and totally worth it!

It's like Banished but better. It has elements of other great city builder/sim games. Very chill and cozy, great atmosphere and music. Amazing game to just hang with friends (and sometimes steal their coins).

Amazing pacing and progression! Really fun combination of adventure and management. I love the art style and the little cinematic animations.

This game is like if Age of Empires was a zombie tower defense game...an extremely hard and fun tower defense game!

Amazing adventure game! The main mechanic is quick time events to catch the fish, and avoiding unspeakable horrors navigating your boat through the waters. There is a lot of atmosphere, style and content. I finished one ending but left a lot unexplored. Lots of replay-ability to figure out different endings, discover the truth of what's going on, and finding all of the fish types.

My FisherDwarf was feeling increasingly saddened due to living an unexciting, safe life free from danger and adventure. They grew melancholic with the humdrum daily trip to the pond outside the fort, where they'd catch some turtles that the other dwarfs would turn into soup and shells used in crafts.
They started to do ANYTHING to feel excitement, they began starting arguments with the expedition leader, or brawls at the tavern.

...So, I made them head commander of the Fortress Militia. They immediately threw on the finest armor we had available, marched outside, and wrestled an alligator to the death. It was their death, not the gators, but they died with a smile on their face, getting to finally live the high adventure life for which they so longed. They were laid to rest in the tombs and the gator was hunted down, skinned, and their children now wear it for some leather vests and backpacks. 11/10 would promote FisherDwarf again.

It's the final boss for civ management games. If you live for games like Civilization, Factorio, Satisfactory, Cities Skylines, or Oxygen Not Included, this is for you. The learning curve is steep; you will need to watch some youtube tutorials in addition to reading through the in-game ones. (I recommend the Let's Learn Dwarf Fortress series from Kitfox Games' youtube)
The UI takes some getting used to as well. Be prepared to spend your first fortress learning how to play. I'm several hours in and just discovered that with a manager I could set work orders instead of building everything one at a time.

It is a challenge to learn the mechanics, but once you start, the emergent stories and amazing depth of detail in the wold reveals why this game is in the Museum of Modern Art's video game display.

If you loved Sim City 2000 or others like it, you need this. It's the definitive city builder.
