I dont make reviews often, but I find myself compelled to make one right now.

NMS is probably the number one comeback story of the gaming world by now, It has an abysmal launch due to being rushed and over-hyping features that didnt quite work out as advertised and most gamers that heard of NMS at all figured it for a flop and moved on, with only a small amount of dedicated users sticking with the game.

Instead of leaving it like that and pocketing their launch sales, as many devs and publishers tend to do in the modern gaming age, they promised to fix things and flesh out the game with free updates, and what distinguished them is that they actualy delivered.

And they kept delivering, right up until the currrent moment I am typing up this this review, more than five years past release along with the new Companions update. Five years of free content updates, which is amazing to see in the modern gaming world, The NMS devs could have started turning these content updates into DLCS one or two years ago easily and would have most likely had decent sales and not much community discontent since the game got fairly good and fleshed out by then. Instead they have continued to add content and upgrade the games features without charging a penny for it.

Since the Dawn of DLC and Microtransactions I cant say that I have heard of any Dev studio or Publisher doing such a thing, and it boggles my mind.

And of course, such a thing deserves admiration, if your tempted to buy the game, please do so and give it a good try, if you don't like it, consider not refunding since to my knowledge their only income is from game sales, especialy if you got it on a cheap sale.

After a couple play sessions on 2.0 I have decided to update my review

To put it simply, I am not having fun with 2.0 like i was with previous patches.

Many of the overhauls feel cumbersome or poorly thought out or implmented, or tedious to me.

Examples.

building outposts in every star system you want to claim I find tedious, slow, and boring.

hyperlanes as implmented, along with the loss of FTL choices, is also slow as mollases so where you can be waiting years for a fleet to travel anywhere

Forts are interesting, but still do nothing to solve the Doomstack complaints.

i hear war exhaustion sucks, but i cant find out because i quit playing out of boredom five hours in before i can even get to my first war.

maybe the current version of stellaris is something you can enjoy, but it ceased being fun to me and i regret how invested i had gotten into the game, going back to previous patches is not a complete solution because major bugs remain on those patch versions that interfere with parts of the game.

I liked Stellaris, but I have a big problem with Paradox’s announced FTL update removing diversity and play styles from the game, mechanics that the game launched with

So, I am showing my dissent here, I will happily rewrite my review if Paradox alters their intended plans into something I agree with, I cannot condone a developer tearing out a core defining feature of the game.

If you want to know more there is plenty of discussion on the paradox forums and other community’s."
