I play RPGs, adventure games, puzzle games, HOGs, and third-person fantasy. I am epically bad at platformers, and almost as bad at FPSs.

This is a sweet and casual game about Mia, a workaholic girl who accidentally crashes her spaceship and is forced to confront the idea that maybe taking a break every once in a while is a good thing.

The specific style of cartoony visuals and oddball NPC dialogue, as well as the pacing, remind me a bit of Cozy Grove, and I suspect if you like the aesthetics and vibe of that game you would enjoy this one too.

Gameplay involves using your blaster to farm resources to repair your ship and upgrade your gear, using your jetpack to explore your surroundings, and eventually using your boots to shovel-stomp every destructible object around you (which is very gratifying and cathartic). There are no enemies, but there are a number of NPCs to help, shops to buy from, fish to catch, simple block-arranging puzzles to solve, and a small handful of clothing and accessory options to unlock.

There are also no time constraints or day/night cycles to worry about, and in fact the game distinctly wants you to take things easy, rest often, and not try and grind it all in one sitting (because despite there being at least 12 different ways to earn the cores used as currency, saving up for that final expensive item is going to take a good hour or two).

There is an endpoint for the main narrative; however, the game directly continues into an epilogue-style endless play mode afterwards, so you’ll be able to 100% everything after completing Mia’s final goal.

In terms of cons, I think my only notes would be:
1. I encountered one triflingly minor bug – I destroyed a trio of crystals on one of the islands in the coral sea, and the health bars remained visible on screen after the crystals disappeared. The visuals fixed themselves after leaving and re-entering the area.
2. Even with the upgraded ability to sprint and jetpack-jump across the map, and even with the shortcuts, I still found myself wishing the portal statues in each area were a fast travel network instead of just a one-way trip to the ship area, since that would greatly cut down on backtracking.
3. The last achievement has such a low chance of being encountered naturally that it is practically impossible to get without having to resort to a walkthrough (which I ended up doing).

Overall, I had a lot of fun with this game, though. The central message is strong, the gameplay is relaxed but engaging, the aesthetics are cozy, I appreciate the representation in the choice of protagonist, and at nine hours for 100% completion the game length is a satisfying kind of short.

I picked it up for 30% off during the winter sale, and I feel like I definitely got my money’s worth, but I don’t think the full asking price is unfair.

Thanks so much for your detailed review of Figment! :russian_like: It was really helpful especially since all the other reviews were positive and mostly said the same thing. After reading about the controls and so many other issues, I'll be giving that game a pass!
