@JUB JUB You're very welcome! Sounds like your experience with the franchise has been very similar to my own, which is kind or refreshing. The number of people I've talked to who find Civ V to be "the bestest" always made me feel like I was missing something lol
I believe I stumbled on your patches at http://alphacentauri2.info/ . I'll probably try Yitzi's first, it's funny you say that because when I found the site last night I felt like I might try Yitzi's first since it looked like a "complete" and very recent list of patches, where as scient's looks like it still might be somewhat of a WIP.
Either way, I appreciate the info and will likely give these a try very soon.
But, the patches: search for 'alpha centauri patch scient' and you should find them. At the time of writing, scient's patch v2.1 is the latest. Yitzi's patch is older, but I've been playing mostly with that, and it's excellend. Both both are great, from what I've seen.
I wasn't aware of any exe patches for SMAC no, seems I have some hunting to do. I'm also going to take a look at Pandora on GOG, since you have me intrigued.
I assume GOG doesn't automatically include the latest exe patches? They're probably on a fan made site somewhere?
Have you checked out the recent .exe patches? Lots of bugfixes, modern resolution support, even enabling some broken features that didn't work in the original game (small things, like Secret Project effects).
I reviewed Pandora (the game) on GOG, but my motto was along the lines of: 'Fellow creators the creator seeks, not fanmade recreations.' . SMAC, with exe patches, plays better than it did on launch. Does it need a remaster? I feel that the tech uplift was plenty.
