Early Access Review
Work hard to construct a house of cards that gets absolutely stomped on by a schoolyard bully... then realize you need to build an actual house, and there are wrecking balls swinging at you

Easy to understand at first, but with some mechanical depth, this game is a deeply engaging historical simulation, or a hilarious alternate history game depending what you're doing with it.

Best soundtrack, plus awesome new weapon cosmetics and challenging missions, if you are interested in adding any of the above to your x2 experience i highly recommend!

For Those who played enemy unknown: It has plenty of similarities, but is very different as well, you have much more of a feel of flying around frantically trying to deal with every problem, and the biggest difference (even compared to EW and meld timers) is you always feel like you're on a clock, especially at the strategic level. Many Missions have a time limit and this adds a lot of urgency. Sometimes the time limits can feel unfair or frustrating but I think its a fair tradeoff to a boring game of overwatch crawling as soon as the meld is gone. Another change is the game is really pretty (which can be a performance problem on a loer end machine), but it looks really cool when you blow stuff up. There are a lot more character customization options too, and mods add a ridiculous amount of different props and voicepacks.

For those who haven't played any xcom: A very fun and engaging experience, guide your squad from 4 starting noobs to be the badasses the aliens fear, get all sorts of upgrades and so on along the way and face ever more scary aliens. If you can think of a way to kill aliens you can probably do it in this game; shoot them, stab them, blow them up, light them on fire, poison them, even kill them with fall damage. There are also many hilarious moments in this game, like when aliens fail to hit your decoy beacon.

The biggest feature for me is the mod compatibility, so the game can really be what you make of it, it has a core tactical sqaud based gameplay that can be built on massively by mods.
