There's a lot of good ideas in this one, but execution is quite poor. Gameplay wise it should be similar to Mario Kart but it is severely lacking the level of polish and fine-tuning Nintendo puts into their kart racing mechanics. There's a lot to be said about Nintendo's use of rubber banding AI and terrible balancing, but the driving always feels tight. This game, on the other hand, feels quite sloppy with a lot of very weird slowdowns in speed, like before approaching a ramp, that breaks what could have been an otherwise fluid experience. The game also seems buggy, with changes to control mapping either not applying at all or becoming randomized.
Doesn't help that things like the obviously cheapo impersonation or AI-powered voice acting ruins the game's atmosphere. Old fans aren't going to be enthused with how they sound, and kids are not as stupid as the developers/publisher seem to think they are. Also, the forced tutorial race is HORRIBLY done. For one thing, if your kart racer has so many mechanics that need to be communicated in a tutorial rather than being learnable through gameplay, it's a failure. Second, the abrupt slow down that happens when explaining a mechanic destroys the flow of gameplay and makes it VERY easy to mess up whatever it is they're trying to teach.

It's a different kind of EDF experience than the mainline EDF games and even the other spinoffs. That's not necessarily a bad thing, and while the near constant 4th wall breaking dialogue can get a little annoying (though, sometimes it's funny, but not in the normal EDF way), the game can be fun if you can figure out how to have fun with it.

That being said, I can't recommend this game, because the PC version lacks splitscreen. Instead of basing this version in the superior PS4 code, which has splitscreen, they based it on the inferior Switch version, which doesn't.

Also the settings are tied to the cloud save, which is IMMENSELY annoying and can actually prevent you from playing the game on other PCs if you go from high end machine to a lower end one like a laptop or handheld.

The core gameplay is very well made and should have been fun. Unfortunately the classes still feel pretty unbalanced and the matchmaking is absolutely horrendous. I know some people on the Internet are incapable of having more complex thoughts than "git gud", however the fact that you can be insta-killed within seconds of meeting a foe while having your own projectiles and flames do middling damage tells me there's something wrong with the game.

Not at all optimized for PC. Something is very wrong with this game with how poorly it runs on hardware that shouldn't have issues running it, even at 720p. While I do have a gaming PC capable of running this game flawlessly through sheer brute force, I wanted to also run it on my Skull Canyon NUC. Unfortunately that isn't possible as it is impossible to get a decent framerate, even though this NUC is capable of running much better looking games.

I really want to recommend this since it's quite a beautiful remaster, but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ does it perform poorly.

The developers actions and excuses show his true greed, his lack of knowledge, or even both. Next thing that will happen is he will demand that everyone buy a copy for each machine they intend to play on. Maybe he should've worked with Nintendo back in the Wii and Wii U days.

When the game launched purely from Steam and auto-updated, it was great. Now that the "game" just launches Enmasse's ♥♥♥♥♥♥ game launcher, having this installed on Steam is completely pointless. NO ONE wants to have to wade through multiple launchers just to play one game.

Runs like a garbage fire on anything but the highest tier hardware. Give this a pass.

Runs like garbage on an Atom z8700. Yes I know Atoms are terrible, but it should still meet the minimum spec. No matter how low I set the setiings the game runs at the exact same terrible framerate. This shows that the game is poorly optimized. I've run games that are more demanding than this better.
Also, the load times are stupidly long.

Pretty good port! Of course there are issues, like right stick not working on certain controllers (Afterglow PS3 and Dualshock 4) and some of the 2D art is still rendered at lower resolutions. However, I recommend this to lovers of both anime and JRPGs and people who are capable of seeing past the moe to see the treasure that lies beyond.
Personally I prefer the Vita version as I am a portable-lover (plus what Uni says in the true ending ONLY makes sense when viewed on Vita), but it's nice seeing the game run at 60 FPS at 1080p.
