As someone who isn't a Homeworld fan, I can't find there's anything fundamentally wrong with this game. Sure you could do a whole lot better, but you could also do a whole lot worse. The main point of contention seems to be the story, which is...average? Maybe below average? I mean it won't win any awards but it's not a disaster zone like woke Star Wars is.

I'd probably be singing a different tune if I really was a Homeworld fan who was waiting 20+ years for this game, but thankfully I just picked it up 'cause I thought a space RTS would be cool. Definitely not worth $120, though.

I wouldn't call it much of a simulator, but what it is, is an excellent aquarium management game. Pretty low stress stuff, and well worth the $10 I spent for it. Unsure if I would say it's worth $30, though...

A good shooter, but has probably one of the most racist communities I've seen in a while. If you buy this game, don't be Chinese.

This game doesn't exactly break new ground for, or replace, Stellaris. It's closer to a total conversion mod than being a standalone game.

That being said, what I expected was a cross between HOI4 and Stellaris set in the Star Trek universe that I know and love, and that's exactly what I got. So sure, I recommend it.

A good game with a bad community.

This game is to construction what Ace Combat is to flying. It's not realistic in the slightest. It's a poor simulator of reality.

What it is a simulator of is 8-year-old kids building two-story houses with dump trucks. Meaning you can kansei dorifto a cement truck down a hill.

Déjà vu/10, don't spill the gravel

Fun game but I don't think it's for me. Having difficulty sniping at even intermediate ranges, and it seems odd that they're not adding shotguns to the game? Realistic, sure, but the game already isn't realistic.

I mean if Steam gave me more than 2 hrs to sample a game before I had to return it, I could probably say more.

It's fun, it's challenging, it's simple, and it's cheap. I think there could have been more to it if they wanted to, but I'm pretty satisfied with what I got given its really small price.

It's not perfect, but it's pretty fun all things considered. Comparisons are inevitable to Left 4 Dead. The balancing feels a lot better - Left 4 Dead special infected felt extremely squishy, while here they're far tankier. Weapon variety has improved as well, and the finales have a lot more variety. It's both easier and harder in different ways.

That being said, $80 is a very steep price, so I would tentatively recommend it if you have the money to spare, or you're absolutely certain you'll like it. Otherwise, there is nothing stopping you from enjoying Left 4 Dead still, which is far cheaper.
