Dota 2 is a MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena)
It offers a 5v5 deathmatch which you can pick your own heroes in.
There are 3 types of games you can play: Normal Match (Pub), Ranked Match and Bot match
Looking at the Bot Match, you can configure many things. Including the difficulty of the bots.
You can also play bot matches to train, try out new builds etc

With Ranked Matches, it's all about the MMR ( Match-making rating)
If you don't have mmr yet, it's TBD ( To be determined)
If you want mmr, you have to atleast play 10 Ranked matches)
Your mmr starts out low, but winning matches makes it higher and you will be placed with more experienced players!

With Normal Matches (normally called Pubs), You don't have to worry about being not that experienced. No MMR or anything. However leaving the game will punish you with an abandon (That also happens in Ranked). Which you have to play a couple of Low-Priority matches to continue with the normal ones. Those matches are All Random and will not give you any rewards of playing (which sometimes happens in normal and ranked matches).

Dota 2 has over 100 heroes and only has 1 map. You can try tons of builds for each hero and have fun playing with your friends. The competitive scene is great. The International is an official Dota 2 championship from Valve. It offers a high price pool for the winner of it.

In my opinion. I really like Dota 2, and i'm looking forward to become better and better!
Hopefully this review will help new players or non-players some information about the world of Dota
