I don't know why Steam has my hours played so badly wrong (easily got over 100 in this game), and it took so many flucking years to get there but FINALLY mods have brought this game up to where it should have been all along. Get the beta patch and the Overhaul and enjoy the best Carmageddon experience we've ever had. Finally.

The beauty of the original Lunar Lander was the difficulty and novelty. This game has neither. It feels and plays cheap. It took me 54 minutes to beat the entire arcade mode, which was not even enjoyable, and the rest of the modes weren't even fun for 5 minutes. I do not feel this game is worth 1 dollar.

Basically everything bad about cheap games on Steam. Dev is a garbage churn and releases a massive volume of complete trash flipping generic Unity assets. Music is cool if you haven't heard it a thousand times elsewhere because it's Free Use generic internet tunes and has been all over Youtube for years. Pay DLC to shortcut the unlock grind. A million nonsense/fake reviews from people that bought it for their Steam Profile. All on top of "gameplay" that doesn't even really exist at all. You can play for 90 seconds and you've seen everything. I got this for 3 dollars and I was ripped off.

Barebones oldschool roguelite autobattler with strategy and deckbuilding elements. I hate grinding and this game certainly requires a lot of it to advance but when the core gameplay loop is this compelling and oldschool it's hard to be mad. It truly feels like a game made 30+ years ago, with no tutorial, explanations of how to play, or indications of what many of the features in the game even do. Experiment and find out is the order of the day. Easy recommend if you like this sort of thing. I'll be playing several rounds per day for a while yet.

edit: Late game balance is poor. Win/loss depends entirely on what card draws you get from Goddess Statue. If the draws are bad you just wasted 30 minutes. Still not going to change Recommend rating, the game is still worth the price and can be improved with further patches.

Bad. Just really, really bad. Bad engine sounds, bad music, bad controls, bad AI, bad UI, bad graphics, and not fun to play. I would have said bad physics but it basically has no physics. Any of the RC Pro Am games, Ivan Stewart's Ironman Challenge, and Danny Sullivan's Indy Heat were all far more fun to play, had better physics (lol), and those games are literally 30+ years old!

This game is a joke, bordering on a scam. It's like an AI made a top down racing game out of a spreadsheet and the AI was running on a 386 SX. I cannot imagine the audience for this game except people that don't know what a decent 2D racing game is like. This one is not it. It's bad. Refunded.

What a cool, difficult, unintuitive, atmospheric, adorable little game. Once you figure out how to actually control this thing the road opens up before you and it actually becomes a bit more relaxing to play. Just a bit though, because easy is not a word I would use to describe Driftwood.

First off, it's got a steep learning curve that isn't helped by a very basic tutorial. It took me 5 hours to figure out what the game actually wanted in terms of control (and I was tearing my hair out those entire 5 hours) but once I figured it out I finished all the goals on all the maps in less than 3 further hours. Infuriatingly the controls cannot be remapped, the sensitivity of the controls cannot even be changed, and the controls can be very, very, VERY twitchy. For a game demanding such diabolically precise control this is a bit inexcusable but hey... Early Access I guess? I cannot imagine even playing this thing with a keyboard, much less doing well with one. Basically impossible. I'm not going to talk about the bugs because other reviews have covered the common ones and there is nothing game breaking or exceptionally bad for this stage of development.

Once I did master the controls (I used an xbox 360 controller) I really started enjoying the maps. They're great, and the gameplay is basically Tony Hawk meets 1080 with an emphasis on clean cornering and route selection. The soundtrack is very good but needs more songs, and the game badly needs more maps, more goals per map, and QoL improvements relating to the controls but the bones are absolutely there.

Will this develop into an incredible classic to rival the greats of the extreme sports genre? It could. I hope this is the beginning and not basically all we're going to get, as so sadly often happens with other similar Early Access releases.

I will update this review as the game develops.

Not an arcade game, not a simulation, and not even a commendable attempt to compromise between the two. The oldschool graphics are the best part of the game but that's not saying much. The controls are terrible, the physics come nowhere near even the first Gran Turismo, and the sounds are mind shatteringly bad. The cars are all scratchy, tinny, and sound nothing like race cars. The AI is dumber than six sacks of rocks. Attempting to drive these cars fast is tedious and frustrating because of the bad controls, bad physics, interference from idiot AIs, and bad camera angles that cannot be changed.

I had high hopes for this one but it was an easy refund inside one hour.

Low quality Dungeon Warfare ripoff. No reason for this to exist. Annoying, badly designed, derivative trash. 10 minutes and refund.

A clear nod to classic arcade racers like RC Pro Am and especially Micro Machines but overall this one is too simple and limited. There are almost no options in the game and the controls cannot be changed. The story is unoriginal, generic, and incredibly stupid. The cars can be customized and upgraded but they're all generic and uninteresting. The tracks are varied but uninspired and bland. The music is inappropriate but annoyingly catchy.

The biggest flaw of the game, however, is the fact that 100% of the difficulty comes from the fact that you can't see what's ahead on the track. The view is an extremely close zoom level and cannot be changed so you literally have to play many tracks over and over to memorize them before you can win. For a racing game this is an inexcusable flaw.

In the video trailer the narrator ignores two comically bad spelling mistakes in the headline to fire the worker for his grammar in the subhead. Instant buy.
